I'm really loving this story. I'm actually just reviewing so I can recap for my future self when I pick it back up in a year. I'm a serial binger, so I can't stand to wait for the next chapter/episode of a thing I like on a weekly basis, so I forget about it until there's a stockpile.

As far as stories of the Infinite Flow or World Hopping persuasion, especially of the yaoi variant, I think it's one of the better ones, though I do tend to love the horror themed ones, so maybe I'm biased.

I really love the MC, just because he has so many facets.

Spoiler

The MC, Zhou Yu, is interesting because, other than his tendency to remain calm under duress, his photographic memory, and his poker face, he's kind of a blank slate that changes depending on who he's possessed. Note that he isn't ACTING like the OG owner, he's actually got some of their personality traits as a result of inheriting their memories.

In the first world, he was cheerful and friendly, in the second world, he was full of paranoia and anxiety, and in the third world, he kind of had the atmosphere of an everyman, even doing the chasing for once. Granted, in that world, the ML was so ridiculous, the MC didn't need weird character traits to make things harder. In the 4th world, for reasons I haven't fully confirmed, Zhou Yu has forgotten he's been reincarnating, and has depression, though he snaps out of it somewhat halfway through.

This newest world is the most interesting to me, because the MC, who still isn't recalling the previous lives like the ML, is a total Dudebro, and very much thinks he's straight. It's the first time I've seen him as an idiot, and I'm loving it. He's hilarious!

The ML is harder to nail down, because unlike the MC, the ML never remembers the previous lives.

Spoiler

His introduction was fun for me in the first arc. 'Girl' was bats**t insane, and I loved it! But, most importantly, he withheld his yandere tendencies as well as his instincts as a vengeful ghost for the sake of his love. The only good yandere is one with self control who keeps crap like imprisonment fantasies as just that: fantasies.

I also liked him in the second world. Being split between an adaptation of Frankenstein's monster and Cthulhu, himself, I so loved it! I especially liked how, whether it was the bulky abomination born just yesterday, or the ancient god dwelling in the deep, they were both so naive. Cthulhu wanting to seduce the MC with his favorite set of tent**les, while the (paranoid and slightly mad at the time) MC was enacting a one man drama show, made me laugh out loud.

If I had to say, I liked the third arc the least. It felt shorter and less detailed than usual, but the ML was the biggest problem. It was the most selfish variant of him, so it may be for the best that he didn't overstay his welcome. The arc is still fun, since it's literally Invasion of the Body Snatchers, with every snatched body being the ML. The MC was overwhelmed a bit, which was funny at first, but by the end, the whole arc felt a little incoherent.

Fourth arc, as Morris, the ML felt a little more developed than usual. The MC and ML interacted throughout the plot as close friends and classmates who are both going through a crisis together. An interesting point I liked about this arc in particular was how difficult it was for them to finally be together. This was a hyper religious world with severe h*mophobia, and because this was the first world the MC couldn't remember the previous arcs, he couldn't overcome the hurdle easily. Which, as one would expect, makes for a more satisfying feeling when they finally do sort things out.

The fifth arc I'm currently in the middle of, I'm still not sure what the ML is, besides a demon in general. He keeps being called a clown, but from his description, it seems he's dressed like a fine gentleman, just wearing a jester mask to hide his face. As usual, he falls in love with the MC right away, but unfortunately... like I said before, the 5th arcs MC is a bit of a straight man. Funny thing is, he still crushes on the clown anyway, but because the ML is seducing him without showing his face (he's in a separate dimension, communicating telepathically), the MC doesn't realize they're the same person.

[collapse]

The side characters aren't too interesting, but they aren't NOT interesting, either. I'm beginning to wonder why all the MC's parents are awful people in every arc. The outsiders confuse me a little, too. They KNOW these people and these worlds are all real, not just NPCs and movie transmigrations. Yet, they still look down on the netizens for...I don't know, existing before the futuristic world the outsiders live in? Oh, lol, a door with a physical lock, what a tr*sh place~... seriously? I really don't understand them. They're also terrible at working together to survive. I'd feel bad for them, though, if they ever showed me a decent one who treats human beings like humans.

Anyway, I digress. It's worth a read.
