I enjoyed reading this book a lot. Apocalypse, food hoarding, a ruthless protagonist who doesn't bull***t around and eliminates all real and potential threats. Why is there no romance? The author honestly said that he is not good at it, so he skipped it. Based on his previous works, and readers' feedback, he tried to avoid annoying story elements. And IMO it worked! There is no annoying system or game elements, or death of loved ones just to advance the story.Usually the reader associates himself with the hero, so who would want to read about sad things happening with him just to motivate his revenge and become stronger? The protagonist becomes very strong pretty fast, and has a "golden finger", but it's not ridiculous to the to the point where you exclaim "oh come on!" (like in many Japanese novels with OP protagonist) Despite the depressing flavor of the story (apocalypse!), all the sad things already happened to the hero before his rebirth, so he knows how to avoid them. Who doesn't like a clever hero? There is even some humor in the story. Most of the story is happening on the Earth, and the interstellar section is relatively short. I think the author is just not very good at "space" plot, but its not a bad thing. When the hero leaves Earth, he is already very strong, so why drag the plot just to make more chapters? The home planet is protected, so the hero can wreak havoc in the universe to his heart's content and the reader's enjoyment. The story finale was rushed (there are 2 alternative endings), but most of the questions were answered. The reincarnation was explained, the world power system as well, so I didn't feel like the novel is incomplete. I definitely recommend it, unless you are repulsed by an overly cruel hero with no forgiveness to his enemies. The MTL is quite readable.
