It's okay but there are weird sentences sprinkled where I have to pause,... oookkkayy?

There's one line where ML talks about how innocent and beautiful MC because he's only 23 and the dude is 100. ?? Okay?

So much bird in a cage imagery too. The ex-husband treated MC like a trapped bird and all he wanted to do was hide him from the world. Then the ML later says the same thing? And says he's so possessive he doesn't want the MC to leave or do anything but because he loves him, he hides that part of himself from MC.

Very much 'wow good for you for attempting to be a good person'.

The author did a really good job writing this book. The only reason I can't give it full stars is that it is a really traumatic story and should include a trigger warning for sexual assault.
