Pretty normal cultivation novel where the MC gets a cheat and rises above others while remaining low profile. His background as a transmigrator could’ve been ignored for the most part, hell the author could’ve stated that he got some memory fragments from our world and his behaviour / personality wouldn’t be any different. I suppose it was mainly to excuse the slang and mental commentary of the MC but he was so normal in his previous life he may as well have just gotten a dose of a teen kid’s internet history injected into his brain and the plot wouldn’t have changed. They also have this habit of reiterating stuff they said before. I know it’s a long novel and it’s for the benefit of readers with goldfish memories, but it feels like something done just to boost the word count. The author also likes to use chapters as author’s notes, which is fairly annoying given they established early on that any author notes would be at the start or end of the chapter, even if not clearly separated from the main content of the chapter.Pretty standard cold-blooded MC for the most part, but he put some effort into repaying his debts without painting a target on the people he’s repaying. The author has some tell not show moments where they say he has fresh ideas that other cultivators don’t, but it’s never demonstrated. There has been like one exception to this in 500+ chapters, where the MC came up with the idea of artificial insemination for a pair of Yin-Yang fish all on his own with no help from the system. And... that’s it. For everything else, he relies on his system’s ability to tell him what is wrong with a plant / animal and the accompanying suggestion to correct the issue. One good thing about this is no harem (so far, at 500+ chapters in). Also I’m not sure if it’s the MC / author being a dumbass or if it has a reasonable explanation in world, but why didn’t he just commission some people to grow the plants that were to be turned into seeds for the next batch? For context, his system rewards him for harvesting mature spiritual plants that he nurtured himself but he has stated multiple times that it would not reward him for turning them into seeds, so theoretically, if he planned in advance, he could save the time and effort of caring for the plants that were to be the next batch’s seed crop which he has also stated multiple times was a strain on his mental energy and time. I get that early on that wasn’t feasible what with having to keep everything hush hush and not having the money to pay people, but at that point in the story, he had his own mountain, was richer than like most of his peers, and had no shortage of people jumping at the opportunity to learn how to cultivate spirit plants from him. Even if he wasn’t reassured letting them handle the higher grade plants, the base plants that he mutated himself should be fine as it was the plant that was the most commonly planted and should have the lowest requirements. He didn’t have to reveal to them the method of turning them into seeds (which might have broken a vow he swore earlier), just had them care for the plants that wouldn’t reward him for caring for them. It’s not like he couldn’t keep his own batch of seed crop for experimenting either... In short, read if you want to turn off your brain for a bit, but it won’t be too harmful to the psyche.
