I went through a process reading this chapter. At first, thinking Hol Horse accomplished what Thoth predicted, this time with no misunderstanding, I thought that what we were about to see was going to be crucial. For a moment, I thought Jotaro would defy fate and it looked like it as Polnareff sneezed. But then it appeared that Horse’s watch was forward and thus, he did make a mistake. The bullet beautifully struck through the second fake Jotaro’s head at precisely noon and took Horse out with it. At first, I thought this was the same outcome as with Oingo and Boingo, I was slightly disappointed. Not that I wanted Jotaro to defy fate or anything. But Boingo suggesting that Horse and Oingo were taken down by fate made me realize that, it's true. By Jotaro not dying, fate worked in his favour. He doesn't need to break the matrix and be some chosen one in an explicit way, Horse had the wrong time, Polnareff happened to toss out the orange bomb he was planning to eat. In that way, fate guided Jotaro to be lucky, and fate or destiny can totally be read into these comical chapters as a serious theme.
