Over 450+ chapters in and the story has kept me hooked thus far. The romance is both light and heavy at times, the story has developed fairly well so far and the side characters actually appear for more than 5 seconds! FYI I would consider this a fusion of Xianxia/Xuanhuan that's fairly smooth saying so far. There's been a few minor stepping stones and drama along the way, but nothing that makes us as readers stress out about. Definitely for people who want a feel good novel with a few slightly darker moments.If I had to pick a few pros;- It would be the attitude of the MC and love interest, - The straight forward romance, - The ambiguity of the MCs family (I'll talk abit more about that later, - And the fact that side characters aren't all Karen's and don't just disappear after 1 arc.Straight up, not everyone is going to like the attitude of the MC, she has a major double standard when it comes to what she wants and does. But what makes it refreshing is that the author acknowledges this and has the MC just outright state she's know it but does it anyway. She not a good person either, and sometimes I imagine we are reading from the perspective of a Demon Lord origin story. And the mother...Spoiler
The scenario with her mother is interesting, I actually hope the author doesn't make her redeemable and have the MC forgive her. The parents in these stories tend to always be pillars of support, so while sad, I appreciate this concept of betrayal.
[collapse]I hope the side characters make more reappearances, it's always fun when old characters come back and makes the future arcs more personable.There are a few cons though, particularly with how quick the romance developed and the occasional plothole. Plotholes are always kinda expected in these types of stories and it's only been minor ones so far. And who knows, maybe they get fixed later as I'm only 450 chapters out of 3000ish haha.Spoilerthere's a tomb where the MC finds a book that happens to detail creating beasts and it was tailor made for the MC yet there has been no mention since
[collapse]And a controversial take, but I was expecting the romance to be a bit more toxic at first and then develop into a cute black bellied romance.SpoilerThere was a lot of possessive talk and ideals towards the male MC and vice versa, but suddenly it's turns into "naww you're a sweet talker, we've got each other's back etc".
[collapse]It's a nice romance, but I didn't feel like it earnt the sweetness that quickly. It kinda went against my understanding of the MC especially when she often refers to her past life ideals.Overall it's great so far and recommend if you like a black bellied story where not everyone is a Karen, some characters actually give her the benefit of the doubt!
