Seems like it's the first time we see Jotaro's signature 'yare yare daze'

I'm havin' difficulties comprehendin' the hourglass-proportions of Dio's waist in the first frame.

It's definitely fate that the right-hand man Polnareff is hunting turned out to be that sexy DIO's right hand woman's son.

That orangutan is beyond suspicious. I suppose this one has some sort of Amityville Horror vibe this time. That fisherman's catch of the day ouchies.

Dio has a reflection!  Yet it was set up that vampires don’t have reflections in the Jojo world when Straits was tricked with the mirror in part 2 leading to Joseph getting a good hit in.  This may be a complete mistake or perhaps we could read into this if we really wanted, he did attach to an otherwise healthy non vampiric body and he can use his stand which is connected to breath but I won’t do that.  Instead, the first scene was very interesting based on the dialogue.

Dio seems to have someone who is to some degree an equal or even a teacher to him as they weren’t a zombie-yes-man.  They taught Dio about stands, having ‘given’ the ability to call upon his.  This Enya and Dio had a conversation on survival.  To survive is to reach a goal and thus to fight for it, but when failing it creates fear and therefore to conquer fear is what it means to survive, this is the logic we overheard.  It served a segway into speaking about the Joestars, Enya is underestimating them and confused why Dio would fear those idiots seeing that he is immortal and has an unusual stand which her desire is to observe.  He then however suggested it is not fear persay which he feels towards the Joestars, rather he is now taking Straits approach; that is, try not to underestimate them and take them out himself.  I presume that means, while he can’t travel in the sun, he would take any chance he got to murder them rather than leaving his cronies to do the work like with Bruford and Tarkus, or by saving his powers like his eye juice shooter until it was too late.  This Dio may have learned to humble himself, at least when it comes to the Joestar’s and to treat them and fate as a dangerous enemy.  To do that is what it takes to survive..

Enya stated that there are seven different stand users heading to the group now, one of which is her son, a man with two right hands.  This is interesting for a few reasons.  Firstly, I was shocked that, with such a long manga, the gang got together so quickly.  I was expecting them to team up slowly throughout the journey rather than all within the first 15 or so chapters.  Yet with a party this big together, it has now opened up the possibility of transcending episodic, monster of the week and team building arcs.  Now, I had already been anticipating us to enter a world of more serial storylines, bad guys that are more interesting and arcs that are more directly linked together rather than coincidentally.  It appears that has come with these seven, one of which is actually already the man which Polnareff is after.  This is quite shocking, just as I thought the gang would get together slower, I did not expect to have Polnareff’s main goal thrust upon him so soon either.  I’m starting to think this manga’s formula may throw us for a loop.  The simple way to extend this story in the way I expected is not occuring.

Overall, it’s super interesting to see Dio in a dynamic like he is with Enya as on the surface equals or even student and teacher.  And outside of that, Joseph bonded with the little girl over family, she took a liking to Joseph’s overt kindness and stuck her tongue out at Jotaro’s gruff kindness, and ultimately they boarded a ghost ship with an orangutan on it.  Certainly bizzarre, but what was even more so was Polnareff suggesting that perhaps all the sailors were taking a dump.  I know you can be arrogant brother, but maybe you’re a little dumb too, lololol.  Also, assuming this monkey is the stand user, it’s freaking smart!!
