Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (WN) Chapter 385 Discussion

So, I am someone who has read every chapter from the very beginning to the last chapter out at the time of this writing, c385.

Hopefully I can truly explain the pros and cons of this novel.

First things first: I couldn't get through the first episode of the anime because of how horrendous it did this novel. If it were up to me, the first season alone would have depicted him climbing his way out of the first dungeon instead of jumping hoops through like 5 volumes.

Now that that's out of the way, the novel review.

The first dungeon is perhaps one of the best parts of the novel, as it shows our mc's tragedy, the betrayal, and his desperate and impossible challenge to escape. One thing people had trouble with was after he escaped. The MC seemed very edgy afterwards and his attitude sometimes changes on letting someone live. However, this is due in part to Yue and the soon-to-be bugged bunny. Without them, he really would have become a merciless killing machine without a soul.

The only really important parts afterwards that stick out to me is the introduction of his other harem members, the dungeons, and a few other characters (*cough*daughter*cough*). Also the scenes with Hajime's classmates.

After that, the only other part that was truly fun to read was probably the battle against the final boss. It was quite the spectacle.

The so-called "Hero" of the class may seem pretty bland on the surface, but that's only in the main story. He only truly redeems himself during the after story, in which case he actually becomes surprisingly a great character. In fact, many characters that we see in the main story become great characters during the after story phase.

In my honest opinion, the "Main Story" is just a prelude to the actual good story. If I were to go by rating the main story, it would be 2 stars. However, if I rated the After story alone, it would be 5. There is so much world building in the After story and such a hidden yet intriguing overarching plot behind everything that the main story actually seems like only a small portion of what the true story actually is.

My advice to those that are thinking of giving up on this novel - trudge on. Once the "Main Story" ends, that's when the true story begins.

This story is so dragging and helpless. They keep prolonging the Shawn and Gale meet up to the point readers are already losing interest. Waste of time, good luck with the next chapters. Will try to come back after a month, if they still havent met yet at that time, then this story is really doomed.

The updates are way too long in coming. Had to read preceding chapters and primer description to recall the story. Have you forgotten your readers?
