I don't really understand all the hate this series garners but it isn't that bad. I guess most people started reading this because of the dark themes in the first arc / volume. If you want those heavy, revenge centered plots, this isn't for you. It kind of becomes light hearted in the latter part. It still has action but the events of the story is definitely lighter compared to the beginning.
