Villains have point of no return...
While MCs rape, genocide, rob, humiliate, etc2. Without any point of no return.

1) Philosophically - depending which belief system there is always a point you can return from (mercy)

2) Point of no return for villians, this is an oxymoron for me. Because it implies the moment where the villian ceases to be one.

3) I guess for me, it be villians taking pleasure in the psychological breakdown of their targets.  (This incorporates rape as a tool, machinations of depravity, forcing characters to utter despair)

To expand on that,  Villians who are utter trash, that subject other characters to become their tools for their desires. Its like the corruption on innocent youth, molding the young into tools for destruction or for their profit.

These are villians, I can't forgive. for they do not offer the decency of equality, but maintain rigid authority of those weaker and vulnerable to them.

4) While certain belief systems, teach one to be magnanimous (merciful), it is hard for me to be merciful to one that in the end, will never repent (and villians never will)

When the murder is truly more than horrible i say murder but sometimes they let the victim alive with all their Hand , leg private sexual part of your body cutted made you a human stick, an human Ball or an human pig . Force you to stay alive in a room with all your dream stealed for you when even the death is refused when male lead or female lead made that i found them to be worst than villain and even if i like villain when they make the worst horrible thing i can't forget them.

Killing a loved one or former loved one.
You cannot redeem such a person or humanize them.
I put it on the same level as rape because it is not just killing but requires betray.

Torture and senseless murder, although this can also apply to the mc.

In another perspective yes.  Because he is not perfect. Flawed as he is, the meager good that he does is preventing situations from getting out of full-blown control.

I guess the overarching theme is just his ability to come up with measures (not solutions) to most crime or situations.

A man with a plan, even for himself [Batman vs Justice League].
