Why Medieval Era?

There are lots of isekai novels where the MC is transported to a world that is quite alike to the medieval period of the mc's original world. It's a trope already. But why medieval? Because it's the dark age? What's so interesting about this era that authors keep using it?

I actually also agree with you, i was just presenting other option so let's just give you the win

I completely agree. Then they accidentally degrade themselves... or in gamer terms, derank.

Indeed, the progression of precursory magic is backward rather than forward. Anything after that "level" of magic would enter our concept of magic as now, and in the future, magic = highly advanced science.

Magic would classified from it's previous generation to it's current generation. Each magical generation would dwindle in the rise of technology, as technology would rely on convenience and dismantling the mysteries of magic, which empowers certain types of magic, in fact. If you're an author, perhaps you have seen some universes where magic's influence decreases when science or pseudo-magic (scientific magic/ magical science) increases in demand. Damn it, entropy!

I mean, there was a certain practiced "sorcery" in real life where only few people are allowed to know of said "name", "mystery", and "symbol" to empower it's influence over them and reality. If such "sorcery" was made public, it would lose it's effectiveness or "meaning".

Oops, yeah.

Magic should've been the leading system at the beginning, and after developing technology to a certain degree it started to become an unreliable method of life, so people might've started progressing in advanced technology while having some use of magic here and there.

I really do see it as a potential possibly, though it doesn't mean that new and upcoming authors would try and do something like this; at least not the majority of them.

It's a different type of warfare I guess. The more defensive cultures actually had armour that were resistant to bullets and had very good shields. The Chinese were reputed to have laminated paper armour that could turn a bullet at 100m while Japanese armoursmiths often proofed their work by firing a test bullet at it. The bullets we use now are considered naturally armour piercing by people in those times and that is because there was a change of material from soft lead to nickel or copro-nickel.

The grind as an author. You either like it or not.

Quite honestly, I feel as someone would try to "ascend" by using some unconventional pseudo-scientific sorcery. Or worse, transcend the entire universe itself, only to go back to r/imsorryjon.

In my opinion it's far simpler to write about, as you can pretty much half-ass it without even the basic knowledge, like I'm pretty sure you don't know what a Sabaton is, but if I told you the "sole-of-his-metal-boots" then you'll know.

Plot twist, your reader could understand what the heck you put on "incomprehensible" spell chanting xD

At least our universe doesn't have actual quantum breakers that almost destroyed our space-time, but somehow manage to reattach itself back but left inconsistencies in our timeline, right?

... right?
