okay, as someone asked, many believe that MC died right after ML returned, right?
as i mentioned, in the chapter where MC reminises as a baby, it was mentioned that MC got to be the empress and lived alongside ML for a long time.
well, now i know that i was only half right:
MC did become the empress, but he didn't live for very long. as mentioned, he was ill and nearly dying, so he only lived for 2 more years, right after he finished his version of "civil law". (this info is mentioned in chapter 15)
oh, an MC was invited to Empress Dowager's 60th birthday feast. the empress dowager had plans for MC (bc he was known to be very, very smart as a 4 year old), so when it was time to choose ML and JW's schoolmate (a childhood "friend" that go to school alongside them), she wanted MC to be brought there, too. she used her birthday feast as a fixed date to bring all the young children over 6 years old from prestigious families to the palace.

-MC seems to have caught chickenpox. But that doesn't stop him or ML from being fluffy or from plotting. They also uncover this guy's underground/secret spy ring. He trains women he kidnaps from who-knows-where and trains them into sex spies.
-ugh, so much plotting. That guy is connected to one of the families working against the Emperor.
-Emperor's health failing even more.
-wait, I got things mixed up. MC is the one who got Qi Wang title. LOL me.
-MC's genealogy is super confusing. Anyway, Yang Zizheng is super concerned about MC. He's a prince from a different country and friends with MC.
-MC captured by and under house arrest by a temple because of the whole reincarnation thing...
-Yang Zizheng goes to MC. Wants to rescue him but there's no way. ML meanwhile is (maybe) having trouble on another front. When asked, MC says calmly he believes that ML won't die. But if ML does die, MC will go to ML's grave and commit suicide there. This depth of emotion is shocking to Yang Zizheng. MC's being tough though, because he pretty much coughs up blood later and is super worried over ML.
-Yang Zizheng presumably goes to find ML.
-ugh, temple jerkwads. Somehow in a glass coffin, there is someone who looks exactly like MC when grown up. They think this is MC in his past life. But they also want MC to donate blood until he dies in some kind of experiment to revive that one. (it may be MC's biological father though)
-ML manages to infiltrate his way into the temple/palace. LOL. Yang Zizheng does a tsukkomi at all those people who thought ML a weak scholar, he'd like to cut off their heads first lel.
-scary secret of royal family -- this temple uses certain concubines to drug the Emperor and make him their puppet. The act of intercourse itself does it. I'm talking about a different country btw, the one Yang Zizheng is from.
-they wreck the place of course. MC is interested in studying this whatever witchcraft because he thinks the sleeping person might be his biological dad and wants to wake him up if possible.
-ML blackmails/makes a deal with this country's Emperor to submit to him and work against Yu Wen Ting.
-there's trouble at home as plotters have a headache since they failed to assassinate ML. Jing Wang being stupid again, etc.

-the main wife of MC's father is actually a warm person, though she wishes she could have kids of her own. They grew apart in the last life because of Jing Wang I think. MC is happy to get along with her again. She carries MC to the little kid study room.
-just before MC died, he wrote a tract about the common people because he knew war hits civilians the hardest. He also wrote it for ML so he'd be able to develop country faster. ;-;
-MC's stupid fellow disciple (under tutor) somehow snuck them into the Queen Mother's palace (LOL). This is technically not allowed. Fellow disciple has guts though, and says loudly that they're ML's friends.
-ML comes out. MC is overwhelmed with feelings and memories from last life and ends up crying. ML tries to comfort him, MC dives into his arms. ML is gentle and pats his back. <3
-Queen Mother comes out now. She thought MC had been bullied by someone. XD
-OMG WHYA ARE THEY SO CUTE ADFJSLDKF:LGJ *dying*
ML tries to reassure MC that he shouldn't be afraid and there's nothing to cry about. Also, he tries to protect MC. MC is indignant and says he's not crying because he's afraid. Imagine two little kids saying this to each other. ML isn't convinced and wipes his tears, but then MC starts smiling and ML has to as well. They still live happily lol. I had to skip the cute moments in between because they’re shorter compared to the plot going on. For example, one moment has dark guards looking away because ML says to MC that if he’s angry, they can solve it in bed. Shamelessness is amazing. XD

There is lol. I’d say this is minimum required for royalty. Plus ML’s goal is to unify the world, which is even more complicated.
