So who does MC really love? I read up to 18 and the spoilers. I guess it's good that I didn't get too invested. How is ML an ML if MC marries a different guy in each life. And really that GC is the worst. I wouldn't have minded all the various lives if it was the same people each time, kind of like Seven Unfortunate Lifetimes. However...I hate endings like this where the author pairs her up with each male lead... somewhat reminds me of how much I hated Vampire Knight.
Can anyone recommend something similar but with the ML and MC being equally loyal to each other?
Even though yes, ML was ruthless in the first chapter, I really felt sorry for him reading how much he suffered as a child and even as an adult. A story with similar ML please. I really like the ML! Why did GC get to have a happy ending with MC in second life. What happens to ML then?

I'm halfway through the novel, and perhaps there are more mystery involved, but so far...
MC's father was the king of Xue Country.
Basically Xue's authority was divided into the royal family and the holy family. MC's real father was the king from royal family, while MC's mother was the daughter of holy land's master. Holy land contained enormous treasure, MC's father wanted that so he seduced MC's mother. The holy land master originally didn't agree, but by that time, MC's mother was pregnant, so he allowed it reluctantly. Then later, MC's father killed the holy land master and MC's mother ran away (or was kidnapped) with the Emperor.
As to the chapter that I currently on, I didn't know whether MC's real father was still alive or not.
EDITED: MC's real father seemed to have died, because in the chapter that I read currently, Xue people was ordered by MC's half biological brother.
EDITED 2: Apparently the king of Xue Country was still alive and only died later in the story (around 600-700th Chapter). Also, he wasn't MC's real father.
MC's actual father was her mother's half-brother. Her mother was treated like a test subject for poison by her father. Her half brother was very talented yet ruthless. She was raped by her half brother, then she had an agreement with the king of Xue Country (he never touched her). So the holy land master wasn't killed by the king of Xue Country but by his own daughter, MC's mother.

In it's the original language, the novel had ended in chapter 980. To be exact, the main story ended in chapter 781. The rest were epilogues which contain short stories about MC & ML with their children and a chapter about the 2 other Emperors, and rather long epilogues about 1) GC (the ex-husband), 2) JY (one of the prince/Emperor who loved MC), 3) MC's daughter who was transmigrated into MC's original world (modern world).

What I meant was:
MC had told JY once, that there are numerous amount of worlds and spaces/dimensions.
So, for example, in GC's case, rather than going to the past, I think he went to an alternate dimension. MC still alive in her dimension, but there's another her who ended up with GC.
Was she still the same MC? I think not, I believe GC went to the alternate universe instead of went back to the past, because the current MC still existed. Just think of her as MC's twin sister...
It's like there is another you in another dimension, but was he/she still you? Can you really predict the action of another you?
Anyway, that's only my opinion. And also what I thought (to make myself feel better about another MC ended up with another man).
And as for MC's reply "she chose ML in this life". I think it's like...
Take me for example, my friend dislike eating chicken ever since she saw her neighbour killing a living chicken to be cooked when she was still in the elementary school. So if she never see her neighbour killing chicken that day, would she still dislike eating it or not? Perhaps she wouldn't dislike it, or perhaps there would be another time another place where she would saw the chicken being killed, who knows...
Without her memory, MC surely couldn't be sure what's she gonna choose, after all, in her 2nd life, she didn't fall in love with ML.
Also, if you read "Chongfei Manual", in the epilogue, there was an alternate universe where Ah Luo ended up with Li Song.
Was she still the same Ah Luo? I don't think so. This Ah Luo was timid and innocent, different from the Ah Luo that ended up with Zhao Jie. Also I don't think Ah Luo and Li Song would have HEA. This Ah Luo was the uneducated, villager Ah Luo. This Ah Luo wouldn't be capable of household management, I doubt LS's mother and sister would like her and not bullied her, and it's not like LS could protect her 24/7.
And in the next chapter of the epilogue, we knew that Zhao Jie just woke up from a nightmare (in which he saw Ah Luo and LS married), so I'd like to think that ZJ just saw LS in another dimension, there was Ah Luo who married LS and there was Ah Luo who married ZJ at the same time in another place and they existed at the same time. So you could say that they were a different one...
Sorry if this was rather confusing, I'm suck at writing essay and explaining things.
