It's not that I pity him, I understand his motivation as a character. As to why he killed the MC, it's because she was chasing that scum prince who was in love with the white lotus bitch. But even when white lotus got the prince, she was unhappy with the MC existing, so she asked ML for help to get rid of her. MC was very outspoken about liking the scum prince and being unhappy with him having another woman. So MC was a threat to scum prince and white lotus' "happiness".

Spoiler about ending and past life what happened after mc killed? I really hope mc dump ml and get her own happiness with guy she live. I hate ml so much and wanted strangle him. Why tortured mc, he should have kill her fast not torture. If he didn't tortured her, I will  not hate him but he torture her month that long and kill finally, such a worst and scum asshole ml I ever hated. 

I didn't hate ml at first because I thought he was such a crazy, torturous, abuser because he led a VERY hard life and circumstances shaped his personality like that so I didn't mind him being the ml BUT even in his second life, despite fl raising him and helping him so much, he's still a crazy, possessive bastard.
To sum it up in one sentence.
He would rather rape, confine and let his lover hate him than let her be happy with anyone else.
And I guess these 'yanderes' are popular with some people too but I personally can't stomach this disgusting behaviour TOWARDS SOMEONE YOU LOVE.

SpoilerI mean gong jue wanted to rape gong yimo when he was thirteen so she would then be forced to stay with him. Not to mention, gong yimo thought of him as her little brother during these times so it adds to the disgust factor when he's trying to force and confine her.
