Yes people want to hunt them down. Mainly going after ML -- MC is just in the crossfire for believing in ML and refusing to leave him (unless you count the time he took off to train with his shifu)
ML doesn't have to fight his nature, that I can see. He's still a good protag lol, only difference is that he heals faster and can use certain demonic techniques.

If you count ML actually being a demon, then yes there's plot. Plus there's some kind of plot around the original demon king who wrecked the world and got sealed/killed. I think the theory is that ML is that demon king's reincarnation.
Well, MC's body is affected by all the ice/water techniques he uses, so he's cold a lot. ML uses fire techniques (as well as a bunch of others; there's pretty much nothing he doesn't know lol), so he often acts as MC's space-heater. In their oblivious phase, these two cutie-pies each thought they were helping the other when in fact they just wanted to spend more time together. LOL. ML never corrected MC's impression that he got heat stroke easily and needed the support.

The way ML got MC out of punishment...ML claimed MC was just trying to get revenge on him because when ML was drunk he tried to force himself on MC. That was the story ML went with to protect the MC's "pride". ML misunderstood due to the white lotus passive that MC was crushing on him and due to some drunken promise from years ago, he made some array to transport both MC and ML to a promised place, but because ML forgot, the array turned against him and tried to murder the ML. So it wasn't the MC's fault but the ML's. It's not what really happened, but the white lotus halo has a whatewashing effect (always come out innocent no matter what crime you did). So ML, believing he was the one at fault, went to plead for the MC, but because he wanted to preserve MC's pride, he spun that story that made his teacher cough up blood.
