It makes sense from a narrative standpoint to raise the tension and build up the Casca Guts confrontation further.
But I also assume Miura wasn't quite sure on how he'd handle it and altough I'm a little disappointed by it nonetheless, I feel like it's best if he has more time to plan out how things will go for Casca from here on out.
Still what I'm really bitter about is that he didn't switch to Rickert and Erica's group instead (it does make sense for it to be Griffith, since he was on Casca's mind)
Miura might be pushing this little Griffith moment in between, so that he can establish something new about Griffith (or reconfirm a certain character trait or sth) and afterwards show how tragic it would be if Casca wants to go back to Griffith now
I don't think Miura doesn't know how to handle it, I actually think he is handling it right by switching to Femto at this time. I've been rereading the early chapters of Berserk lately, and Miura has hardly been doing anything different than he is now. In fact, this is actually like the exact opposite of the Hundred Man slayer scene in the Golden Age Arc. Guts brings her to a safe place to heal Casca, she gets healed and they talk and Griffith, while Femto/Griffith is fighting for his dream, a fantastic parallel, only instead of staying at Guts' and Casca's perspective like the Golden Age, we're now seeing the events from Femto's perspective. Anyways, I'm getting off topic, I think that if Guts and Casca had their reunion in this chapter, it would probably far too much weight for the narrative to handle efficiently. Casca is probably reexperiencing her trauma, and having that happen right after the prospect of a joyous reunion might feel too jarring to read. At this point, Miura needs to find some way to bridge the gap between those two distinct emotions, so right now he's using Femto as an in-between. He'll definitely take this opportunity to share something new about Femto, but we can only wait and see what that can be.
I have a feeling that Miura might be leading up to the next "eclipse", at least in a thematic sense. I think if the direct payoff to Griffith's betrayal in the eclipse was the end of the Conviction Arc, where Femto got reborn into the demon baby's body, then this is most likely going to be the direct payoff to Casca's rape (duh) and I can't help but feel something similar is going to happen. Maybe the behelit was meant for Casca as she tries to bury her emotions deep inside? Thankfully, though, Casca is branded, so that probably won't happen, but I still think there are going to be some parallels with his rebirth in there. Maybe if Farnese winds up activating the behelit out of jealousy or something, then we can get the Godhand members to infiltrate the Elf Island (including Femto?), but I highly doubt a scenario like that, too. Oh well, only time will tell.
