I have a feeling the kid is Guts and Casca's son. Guess that wouldn't be entirely surprising.

Loved this chapter, finally some real progress.

It's pretty clear this manga is not as dark as a long time ago...due to the author's recent... obsessions.... and change in style....

Not true, it isn't as dark because of what is actually happening. The darker parts were when Guts was hit badly by the entire event of the Eclipse, the mood changed completely to show this through a couple of chapters. Right now, Guts is back to his old ways of travelling with a group of friends, lessening the dark events going on around him. A fair example would be during the Golden Age arc around the middle when Guts was happy and the Band of the Hawk were doing really well, everything felt like it did now until Guts left and Griffith messed it up.

Things will take a nosedive again after the fantasia arc, I'm sure of it. Enjoy this arc for what it is, an over-extended battle with a damn persistent pirate. Not to mention we'll have some drama with Casca when the damn pirate dies.

Except last time, it didn't involve a bunch of children/loli/shota and something that looks like a harem.

Meh, I don't see a problem with it. I don't think you can consider the new girl a loli for a start, she seems a little older than the kids. I can't deny that I'm seeing a strange harem emerge with Guts in the center but I don't think it's going to stay that way for long. They're all having fun travelling and exploring, adventuring etc. like I said, Kentaro will give us our bloodthirsty cravings soon. At the moment we're reading the 18+ version of Lord of the Rings.

^Easily the best part of the chapter.

Things I liked:

- the spread at the end with Farnese and Schierke

- Farnese's ongoing development. Soon, she will be a powerful mahou shoujo. =P

- Schierke's desperate attempt to bring Guts back, and Isma's reaction to it.

Something I didn't like/not too sure how I feel about it yet:

-I just can't see the point in Isma joining the group. She serves no function. Perhaps she'll meet up with her mother eventually? I don't know.

Also, can't believe the pirates managed to get away. Again!

once again, guts was able to find himself due to casca and moonchild. added with Farnese entrusted with a pivotal role and getting the unspoken approval from guts is good. puck adding his comedic mastery here and there. yhh berserk is honestly the best piece of fiction I'll ever read in my lifetime
