I really feel bad for both Gambino and Guts. Gambino was hung over the death of the woman he loved for eight years before Guts killed him. It's easy to hate Gambino for how he treated Guts, but this is a time when superstition reigned supreme and it was just as easy to blame things on "bad omens." In Gambino's mind, Guts really was responsible for Shisu's death, and he carried that weight around for so long. He let that weight corrupt him and ultimately kill him, and I think that's just so sad.
Meanwhile, Guts was the poor soul born under terrifying circumstances in an age where he could be nothing but a curse to those who knew of it. He inherited the birthright of suffering, and that destroyed his entire childhood and the only people he cared about. How can one have any clue what it feels like to kill his own father, the only person he thought he could trust? What a harrowing history this guy has.
The action in this chapter was a bit too grisly even for me.
