I feel like this is a chapter that people hate now due to the slow release schedule but will come back years later and really appreciate it. Respect for Morikawa for actually going for such an upset. Not everyone wins, Mashiba has had a ton of character development and has become a much better person over the course of the series, that won't go away by losing in a fight. Also his loss serves as a nice karma for all the cheating he did in his career.

For what's worth it, his greatest victory has been becoming a better human.

I trust Mori 100 %. He will cook. I just hope Mashiba does not retire. One of my favorite fighters.



However, it does seem likely.

I expected Mashiba to lose because it aligns with how I think Ippo will return.

People speculate that Kamogawa is going to die, I think that'd take away every reason for Ippo to get back to boxing, the way that makes the most sense to me for Ippo to get pressured enough to return is if he becomes the last hope for Kamogawa and his generation, first Date lost badly to Ricardo, now Mashiba got destroyed, next is Sendo, and finally something will happen to Takamura.

I might be wrong but we'll see, now that Mashiba's arc is over Sendo vs Ricardo is coming up, during the time it'll take us to get there I expect we'll get some build up and foreshadowing for Takamura as well.

Everyone who's complaining about this chapter, brace yourselves for even more dragged out BS in the upcoming years.

Someone should remind him this is just fiction, not every single fight has to be tragic smh. Ngl pissed me off a lot. Ippo’s made sense, this is just to piss the audience off ngl.
