- I'm definitely basing a lot of what I've said on theory and different views/perspectives of known facts. I've also just noticed this topic was only for discussion but I incorporated the "predictions" aspect to it that I've been seeing everywhere else (other forums). The misunderstandings between our posts are because we had two different view points to express and I was trying to predict further explanations for chapters yet to be released if ever. Now I understand yours and it doesn't make me lose my mind while sorting it out. It works out better if Ichigo only has one Zanpakutou manifestation anyway.
Tensa Zangetsu, or Young-Man, as of right now is Old-Man. Old or Young, neither is the source nor manifestation of Ichigo's Shinigami powers. Based on current information, why would a fusion be needed in the first place? If Young-Man is in anyway part of or a manifestation of Ichigo's powers, then why would Young-Man need to fuse with his own Shinigami powers for Final Getsuga?
- In 540 it's said that Whitey "merged" with his shinigami powers so you could very well be right and the young man could just be an even younger form of his quincy powers. This was poor wording on my part in my last post but TZ probably didn't need to fuse to teach Final Getsuga, he may have fused to prepare Ichigo for his fight with aizen without any intention of teaching Ichigo FGT.
Based off the past and his own admittance, Old-Man has always needed Hichigo to show Ichigo his Shinigami powers. Young-Man now needs Hichigo in order to show Ichigo the Final Getsuga. I think a mistake people are making is trying to apply past knowledge to the present instead of apply present to the past.
- Yeah when I look at something I apply everything from beginning to end and then basically do a spell check from end to beginning and make adjustments. That's just how I think I guess. I think my viewpoint originated from trying to maintain the image/illusion of numerous manifestations of power within Ichigo. After the Ol' Man claimed he was his quincy powers I attached his shinigami powers to the third manifestation of power we've seen appear in Ichigo which was TZ and cut the link between him and Ol' Man Zangetsu so that I could recognize the Ol' Man for what he said he was and still have a separate manifestation appear representing the shinigami powers. However from your perspective, what Kubo has done is to only have one manifestation representing both shinigami and hollow powers whilst the second manifestation represents the quincy powers.
I'm not sure what your referenceing to by saying that Whitey fused with Ichigo's Shinigami powers. The only way I can see this being true is before Ichigo was born, other than that Whitey is the source of Ichigo's Shinigami powers. Hichigo/Whitey never manifested itself apart as the Hollow powers, because they are Ichigo's Shinigami powers. The true reason to why the fusion happened is still unknown. What is known is that the Hollow and Shinigami were never seperate because the Hollow in Ichigo is the source of Shinigami powers.
- I was referring to chapter 540 page 16, it says that the Hollow entered Ichigo and "Merged" with his Shinigami powers, I wasn't using the proper word.
I understand what you're try to say and I agree with the different aspects of Ichigo's power. But as I just showed via chapter 411, Young-Man is Old-Man and the Old-Man in chapter 541 just made it clear that he is not the source nor manifestation of Ichigo's Shinigami powers. You say something is possible, meaning it never has happened. Old-Man never used nor tought Ichgio any of his current techniques. This is also revealed in chapter 541. Chapter 540 showed that Whitey is Ichigo's only Asauchi, hence why Whitey only appeared. Old-Man is not Zangetsu: chapter 541.
- I understand the view you've been expressing now and it makes sense, I've probably been over thinking it way too much. So long as I can accept that TZ is the same person as Ol' Man Zangetsu I can make sense of everything else and it lines up with what you're saying. I just had a hard time recognizing the similarities between the personality of a hollow displayed by Whitey in Ichigo's inner world with the personality of a normal Asauchi like Renji's or Rukia's.
