This was a very enjoyable chapter.  I always liked how Unohana is able to intimidate basically anyone, and now we have an even better reason why.



For those getting bad vibes about the Spirit King, I also can't shake that something doesn't feel quite right.  Honestly I've had a strange feeling coming from the 0-Squad since they have shown up.



I still remember the end of the Aizen fight where he is yelling at Urahara Kisuke about serving "it".  He seems so passionately furious towards the Spirit King I can't help but wonder about it.

That was a perfect chapter of Bleach! All the things I wanted to happen has happened:

• Kyoraku has become Captain Commander of the Gotei 13.
  
  
• Unohana is the strongest Shinigami in the Gotei 13!
  
  
• Renji is awake again! Yay!\\(^o^)/
  
  
• Finally! Zaraki (as y'know he's actually Kenpachi now that we know that's Unohana) is going to learn how to use his sword!
  
  

I'm so happy Unohana is the actual Kenpachi, but why did Kyoraku call her Yachiru? I swear her first name is Retsu and Zaraki's lieutenant is Yachiru?!

that means getting his own  shikai... heck he could learn bankai in a day.

Hes already in shikai mode. Just like Ichigo, his reiatsu is so high he's always in shikai.



O.M.F.G. I called kyouraku being made capt-commander. Holy crap that was one of my favourite moments in all of bleach. What he said to Nanao, did he mean they wouldnt meet as captain and vice-captain again? Because it wouldn't make sense if they would never see eachother...



The first kenpachi. I've been waiting for this moment since shy politely smiled and requested people stop, and they shat themselves. Her training Kenpachi. Who they are afraid to train. This. Will. Be. Epic.

I'm not surprised that Unohana was the first Kenpachi.  There's just something about her that is to be feared.  Perhaps she will be able to open up Zaraki's bankai.  I'd love to see what his bankai would be like!!



And...did Ichigo deal a little unexpected damage to Kirinji when he was punched?



Somehow, I doubt the Soul King/Soul King Palace wants to help Ichigo.  Me thinks that there's something a tad bit sinister going on behind the scenes.

Mangastream's translation says: "I'm beggining ta see why the Spirit King-sama is swingin' of his sac."Pretty much a cruder way of saying the same thing. The spirit king isn't just interested in Ichigo, he probably wants to make him his property. Something that just makes me more and more curious about the Spirit King's intellect.



Another thing that makes me curious... how many people know that Unohana Retsu's former name was Unohana Yachiru? Did she deliberately change it? Perhaps to hide her scary past from the world around her...

People always say that but was there ever anything saying his sword was in Shikai?

With Ichigo i remember we got a clear mention about it but i do not remember anything like that about Kenbachi's sword. I don't think it's in shikai form at all.



Agreed on Unohana. She does have better physical and Kidou stats, but overall both Aizen and Yamaji are above her in overall stat average



as for shikai - every sword starts in shikai form. Then shinigami would train till he learns the name and seals the sword into more convenient form, allowing him to use the Shikai special abilities too.



Only Ichigo and Kenpachi have their swords always in Shikai - Kenpachi because he never learned anything about his sword or fighting overall(and, seemingly, as implied by this chapter, he did not have any real official training and was just swinging his sword around like a stick, via the basics he knew, which puts his whole pride of "hey I know some kendo!" in Arrancar arc into entirely different light) and Ichigo because he never bothered to actually seal it.



Kenpachi's IS somewhat weaker because he does not know his name, thus he is unable to access the special attributes of his Shikai, but otherwise yes, its constantly in shikai.

Im pretty sure he hurt himself when he punched Renji. Renji didnt move, and the top rightmost panel shows Yakuza being surprised with the '!'

Plus he punched Ichigo in the face. Its hard to tense your cheek muscles enough to do what was done.

He would know.
