Im pretty sure he hurt himself when he punched Renji. Renji didnt move, and the top rightmost panel shows Yakuza being surprised with the '!'

Plus he punched Ichigo in the face. Its hard to tense your cheek muscles enough to do what was done.

He would know.



Renji apparently just blocked.

Ichigo apparently moved fast enough to counter-attack without anyone even noticing it.










As i said, there was no reaction after punching ichigo, but he notices something when he punches renji. Then he clenches his fist and turns around, immediately dismissing Renji? I dont know, i just cant see it being ichigo. Unless it was his Blut Vene for a split second? Plus its kinda vague, with the fact he doesn't mention any names.

You misread that exchange. They said that Genryuusai stopped the training after one day for the very reason that they are arguing against Shunsui's idea to attempt it again (Genryuusai realized just how unfathomably powerful, and hence dangerous, Zaraki could become if he completed the training).

First and foremost, I mean no disrespect or negativeness, just clarification.



You misread my post actually.  I didn't deny the explanation as to why Yama-Ji stopped training Kenpachi.  I was just saying, imagine an Unohana with all her hair wild, immense killing intent and ominous spiritual pressure/Zanpakuto standing before Kenpachi.  I assumed that if Unohana got into 'battle mode", something she hasn't gone into for what, hundreds of years, even if it is just training, she would be so intimidating and perhaps petrify even the greatest and most brutal of warriors, even someone of Kenpachi's calibre.  Just with her "battle" presence alone.  I'm not saying Kenpachi will stop training because of this, nor that he wont surpass her, it would just be an awesome development early on (and Unohana hype).

Really good chapter, never expected Unohana to be 1st Kenpachi, just imagine how strong this woman is.



This kinda explains why Yama didn't want her on the battlefield when Quincy's attacked, she would go berserk, and start attacking everyone, enemies and allies.



Can't wait for next chapter.

This chapter was surprising I was more shocked that Unohana was the first kenpachi and we also finally have a new captain commander Kyouraku! and o dear why does it sound like the soul king wants to rape ichigo?
