What is it with the stupid logic you people have? She's in the barracks of squad 4. Why is that so strange? She is healing people but she's healing the ones being brought there. Don't our doctors do the same thing in war? Heal the ones being brought in the place they have a medic center? They don't run in the middle of fights to heal the ones getting wounded.

in all seriousness, i think it was just his god-like speed that his bankai was orginally capable of, i still remember this time when he blitzed byakuya but he overdid it that time as he had just learned bankai and he also had inner conflict. However i think now that his powers are in harmony he can go all out.
But it was very...weird the way he threw his sword....i get that it was his way of challenging bach (throwing the gauntlet) and that it was kubo's way of being poetic
but didn't anyone else think that the way he threw his sword was just like hollow ichigo?? its like he is becoming one with zangetsu?
it was also raining and the title "everything but the rain"....makes me think that its not just raining outside but also in ichigo's inner world
zangetsu (and maybe hollow ichigo) hate the rain, he absolutely hates it when it rains in ichigo's heart, so im think that maybe zangetsu is lending his power to ichigo so that the rain would stop, just like he said when he fought kenpachi
kubo loves to foreshadow things and it all links, so im actually predicting we'll soon see ichigo's inner world again

If we do not count:
- Death of akon by puppeteer sternritter's hand
- Death oh puppeteer sternritter by Ichigo's hand.
- confirmation that Renji and rukia are (somewhat) OK.
- Byakuya's deathbed monologue to Ichigo that parallels Gin's and showcases just how much Ichigo and Byakuya actually came to respect each other, considering how they started, as well as confirmation that Byakuya did grow to care for Renji.
- Showcasing Ichigo's determiantion and adding built up to the upcoming chapters - the fact that this is one of the few times when Ichigo is in plain calm fury
If this was Narutoe, Juha would have already used Yamaji's bankai to resurrect every dead shinigami, so manga could get 100+ pointless "another challenger appears" filler chapters that destroy the already dead character personalities.

Yamamoto's bankai heated up entire SS, vaporizing water and liquids.
As bankai got deactivated, the temperature is dropping again and the vaporized water is turning to rain.

No man, I don't think that's it. Ichigo's entrance happened elsewhere, above Juha Bach. On page 5, first panel of the Mangapanda scanlation you can clearly see a hole in the sky with a guy standing there, dressed in white. That's not Ichigo. You can see in page 4, fourth panel the tips of the Quincy knives on Akon's back and in page 5 you can clearly see him collapsing. So, the guy in the hole is not Akon either.

No dude, you're the one being confused here. The guy in pages 4/5 Akon and Shaz Domino are talking to IS NOT Ichigo. Remember, he lost contact with Akon many chapters ago. His breaking from the cage has a completely different history we're still not aware of. Ichigo appeared elsewhere, not at the Research and Development room.
And so far you have yet to back that up with any kind of arguments.
Akon was NOT in R&D hq. he was in the cube in the sky working to open up the way for Ichigo just like he talked with Urahara few chapters ago.

He should be dead soon is what is implied in the chapter.. Hence
"I will not last longer"
Who's to say though he doesn't get last minute help from who knows who. From that line though it pretty much saying I'm about to die.
The way I see it, it was a traditional death-monologue, metaphorically handling the responsibility over SS to Ichigo, before Byakuya truly passes away(which i guess was when he finished talking and Ichigo looked all uber badass and serious)
Its not surprising that Byakuya held out a few minutes (since that pretty much is how much time truly passed)
