how exactly is Fate's path less bloodshed-ed than Negi's

It is an hint that Negi will fail to save everyone and that a good part of the people that he wanted to save will die.

Basically Fate is 'transporting' the soul of everyone in a paradise dream dimension. If you forget the ethic that you are manipulating human lives then Fate's plan is pretty much the best. Sad people will lead a good life in this dimension, basically in this sense he even give an 'existence' to the illusionary people. If you notice, nobody died at all. Everyone was sent to this dream like place.

Kurtz wanted to save the normal human and let die the illusion (maybe with the exception of the high ranked one such as Rakan but they are really rare anyways). He meant to sacrifice everyone that is an illusion to save all of the human living in the magical world. Kurtz is councious that sacrificing the illusionary being is not something good but he's ready to do it because he consider the safety of the 'real' people more important.

Negi want to save everyone, that would be the best if he actually had something to back it up. In one way even if Negi save everyone the sad and poor people will stay sad and poor and the only possible way to save everyone would be to transport them to the real one which would mean making magic public. Negi could strengten the magical world but that would be pretty much stupid because he's pretty much really far from doing such god level technical magic.

Basically I'm for Fate's path which is not the most realistic one but Fate's group have been able to pull it off as for now.

Okay, Zazie and her forced catch phrase (lol that, she doesn't even say it two times alike) have just took out tree of Ala Alba most powerful members and performed a space translation that was imposible to do; at the same time  Fate's party have no clue as to what's happening (lol that too) but a mysterious hooded character brings confort since Zazie's just a friend she/he bought with her/him. And apparently that girl really IS Zazie since her name appears in the card.

Now here's the deal: Apparently Negi's little quest will bring forth the dissaster Chao has been trying to prevent, while Fate's will actually stop it. Combining that with the fact that the teleportation magic (which seems real) is  something impossible NOW as Mana said, it kind of leads to think that the hooded character is Chao Lingshen herself. If that's true, then Zazie could not be the Zazie of this time, too... however, considering what we can see of the hooded character's face it kind of resembles Filius Zect as obliviouz said, so don't mind all the explanation XD

Well, whatever it's happening will probably be brought to light by the charming Nodoka and her Godsent artifact.

Things just went from "Yeah, predictable" to "LOLWUT?"

Akamatsu has totally come out from left field this time.

Going by eye design and stature, it might be one of the "previous" Fate's. Chao has her hair up in buns, the hood doesn't show this hair style.

This is most probably Chao, a hairstyle can be changed quite easely you know. She stated that she is an old friend of Zazie and like someone said in a club I also beleive that Zazie is an upgraded version of Chachamaru with high tech from the future. The pactio card of Zazie would come from Chao and they would both want to stop Negi.

Chao probably have a lot up to her sleeve now.

but if you had to choose, would you really take fate's plan?

i find it rather interesting that anyone would accept a situation where you can recognize the existence of a being and yet trash it because its existence is unconventional. you cannot call them illusionary and still consider them people. even the guys have been referring to them as NPC's with the video game analogy but that is not entirely correct based on their intentions. if you were to consider them mere illusions, then the decision to scrap them would be so simple it would have been over long ago. Fate's plan essentially also consider them as people and worth saving in some form or another.

i think the real issue here is that negi would rather them find a different solution, although i think others recognize there is not a lot of time for that.

I don't think that hooded person was a girl...if anything, I have a strong feeling it maybe Filius Zect(don't ask me why, just do)

having Zazie come into the picture just totally twists the whole plot now, I can't make heads or tails of whats happening

Actually thinking about it again it would make sense for Chao to have been at the top since the beginning. Fate was ordered to not to kill Negi because 'it would bring trouble to him'and proposed him a way to get out of this world and this mess probably because Chao ordered him to. The high magic tool that Fate wanted to use to make Negi vow not to get in his way was probably made by Chao.

Also the ''don't harm any human'' make me remember the festival war where Chao wanted not to kill anyone. There were plenty of subtle foreshadowing as Chao needed Asuna so she set a spy all along in the class. Which means that she planned everything since day 1. That she lost willingly or not against Negi is unknown but that is probably not revelant to what is happening right now.

chachamaru stated that the "mahora" that they arrived in was not fake, but that doesn't mean it's real. That is, chachamaru couldn't tell that the magic world people were illusions, so if zazie had a lifemaker key then they could be in a lifemaker-type illusion that chachamaru can't detect.

the hooded person really does look a lot like Chao, not only because of her one eye showing and her hair, but also because she's the only characteri know who puts her hands there. it's pretty probable that it's her. However, she cannot be the Chao who got defeated by Negi in the mahora festival. That Chao wouldn't make a second attempt to save her world. A possible...sorta...situation is that Chao prepared two bodies, or two trips, one for each world, with independent objectives that would prevent the unknown catastrophe.

Fate's path has less blood because everyone just disappears xD

Finally, I was waiting for Zazie's appearance since... well, since chapter 1 actually. She appeared few times trough manga but always in the smallest panel on the page, almost as if Akamatsu wanted to say that she is not important at all. Yet, all of those short appearances were accompanied by strange ghost-like creatures. Could it be that Zazie can control ghosts? It could make sense, though it doesn't really explain why can she teleport.

Also, color spread from volume one, the one that shows Negi and all the girls has Zazie in the very middle of it and she has monster-like hands or something.

Zazie totally caught me by surprise.  I mean, sure I suspected she could be special / different compared to a completely normal human, but I did not see this coming :P

Not saying it was a bad thing, but I 100% did not think to myself that this would happen.
