Hold your horses Togashi... I mean I know authors have their time of not doing very well, but this one completely trashed this mini-arc.

Why revive Hisoka? This isn't Dragon Ball. Him coming back to life is completely pointless and contradicts the fight between him and Chrollo. It was just a cheap set up for what is seeming to me his revenge, so much unlike Hisoka. What did the Spiders even do to him lol.

I swear if Togashi kills Feitan off I'm calling bullshit. Way to ruin your entire manga in just a page

1. Hisoka just stopped breathing for a moment and the used Nen to "come back to life". there is nothing unusual here. people can survive even if their heart stops beating you know.

2. Hisoka isn't arrogant anymore. his way of fighting was always reckless because fighting an enemy such as Chrollo who was fully prepared caused him defeat. now that his arrogance is gone Hisoka will fight by trimming down Chrollos abilities and then kill him. deathmatch isn't over yet.

1.What do you mean "nothing unusual here" lol, sure they can survive but I'm pretty sure the time window for him to "realisticly" start pumping his heart and lungs to bring him back was long gone, I mean they even took him to a random hotel room, checked him there and even chilled there for a while before they left.

2. I doubt he isn't arrogant anymore, maybe he won't rush in recklessly as he would go in before but nto being arrogant anymore? doubt it.

The consequence? Chrollo is unable to use the same tactic on Hisoka again? No doubles and no mind-control.

Nice, so this is more in Hisoka's favor. Excellent.

So his Nen basically perforemd CPR on him, and I assume the Spiders only checked his pulse and didn't have a method to determine whether he was also breain dead (which we now know he wasn't). Doesn't requrie too much suspension of disbelief given the established rules of HxH, so I can live with that (though the restoration of his blown off bits is maybe a little bit too much, even if it's just aesthetically).

What upsets me more is that he killed Shalnark...god damn I can't believe Togashi managed to make me care so much about this dude; the first time I saw him he was one of my least favorite Spiders, but somehow he really grew on me. I'm just glad Hisoka didn't kill Machi, that might have completely ruined my day. Anyway, I'm glad the fight is over and we're back to the DC stuff. I'm still looking forward to the upcoming Hisoka vs. Spider fights that we are inevitably going to get, but if Hisoka kills any more of my favorites, I'm going to be super pissed at him. Maybe that's even a good thing, because so far Hisoka was pretty damn likeable for an antagonist. By making him less likeable Togashi can kill him off later (in his fight vs. Gon?) without causing too big of a shitstorm from Hisoka fans.

Bungee gum gets stronger after death to the point where his dead body can move in the same way as a puppet and revive himself without him pre-setting it. Pretty dumb but what's worse is that this sets the precedent for other characters doing the same thing for example Killua's nen could become stronger and shock himself back to life (ignoring logic because Hisoka's case showed it doesn't apply). Pretty bad way to kill off any suspense of main characters having yet another way to come back to life/heal unrecoverable wounds as if we didn't have enough already.

I read all the way through to see why so many people were obsessed with this manga but it just keeps bringing up plot holes and very heavy handed deus ex machina to save characters.I see yu yu in your favorites. It also has deus ex machina and plot holes.

Yep it had plenty but a childhood favorite compared to something I read when I'm 22 are held in a very different light. If I was watching HxH when I was still in grade school I'm sure I would've loved it while ignoring all of what it does wrong but alas.

this chapter definitely had a horrible first impression but after getting more information the only problem is the oxygen deprivation Hisoka should of been long brain dead

i really do like how the art and how this chapter was structured

I am pretty sure it is a setup for Goku vs Hisoka. Revive after dead only makes you stronger.

It seems there are some misunderstandings.

First, it wasn't a vow like Gon's.

It wasn't granted to him; Hisoka did die, but died with a great wish to live. So on the brink of death he prays to his bungee gum to become stronger through death and massage his heart and lungs. He just had that strong wish and gave that command to his nen. But that was just a huge bet if his wish weren't great enough, or he wasn't in a condition to get revived through heart massage he would still be dead.

It's totally conforming with the way nen stronger through death works in the series, that's why he didn't got any drawbacks. He was just smart to use his own nen to revive himself.

Second, he didn't get healed.

He just put a "makeup" to his injuries with his Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise like he always did in the manga. He really never "recreated" a limb before, but remember that his nen got stronger so he has better control of his Bungee Gum now.

That makes it even dumber, fuck nen vows my Bungee Gum can make me stronger without me having any drawbacks..... Really?

Not Bungee Gum but death made his nen stronger because of his wish. It so happens that Bungee Gum can contract and expand so it can work to revive somebody through heart massage.

The Chimera Ants had ridiculously powerful Nen without any vows. Hisoka's Nen got stronger after dying. Or do you expect a drawback from Nen from a dead person who is now undead?

Chimera ants are completely different case tho, their whole biology is different then human ones and even with those extremely powerful nen aura they could still be killed and you know.....actually stay dead...... Pitou is probably something like 5 times if not even more stronger than Hisoka and the best she could do is after dying to make the puppet move her corpse, but here we have Hisoka doing gods work.

Pitou's wish was to kill Gon that's why he activated Terpsichora after death.

He could have activated Doctor Blythe and get revived (or actually not because he got his head exploded, so he would just become a puppet) but obviously Gon wouldn't wait for that.

All this "massaging back to life" is all good and all but how is everybody ignoring the time frame in which that was done. Bungee Gum clearly didn't keep massaging it only started it after they moved him to a hotel room which lets be real probably takes time..... and it wasn't only a heart massage but even a lung massage?

Now that's a different issue. Brain death can occur in less than 10 minutes and even being quick wouldn't save someone from brain damage. Even so, there's not really a way to know the time frame. The place they are in looks like a gym locker room, so I would say they are still inside Heavens Arena. And everybody know these guys are quick with their business, so it doesn't look too far fetched to me he got revived in less than 10 minutes.

What I really want to clarify is that Bungee Gum by itself hasn't any property to revive someone, nor is it some almighty ability, just that it can do CPR. lol

Yes the brain fully dies in 3 or so minutes so even if they did hit the timing for the massaging heart and lungs the brain functionality would be long gone. Never mentioned that Bungee Gum has any healing powers but at how "versatile" it is that wtf is even the limit to that then.
