It's actually kind of terrifying how much Youpi evolved because of one fight, if he's not like he was pre-invasion. Well, I think that was the point. I think one of the major themes of the invasion is showing how people react in desperate situations. Things like Knuckle's compassion has bit him in the ass twice now and this time majorly so, whereas Youpi has very much thrived in these extreme circumstances and, in a way, shows the superiority of the ants. Of course, letting them live may just bite him and his allies in the ass. We'll have to see.

Having experienced this arc several times now, I think that was the point. It's a very grey arc, I mean look at how Gon has acted. He actually wanted to attack Pitou, possibly killing Komugi in the process. He doesn't even seem to care as much for the saving of humanity as he does fixing Kite. And, then you have the King who has some pretty interesting proposals. Though, of course, there is no way humans would ever want to play second fiddle.
