The fight with Frieza got a lot more entertaining with Goku's arrival, since the fight's naturally more evenly contested as opposed to before where it was mostly just hope spots quickly thwarted by Frieza on loop. Which works dramatically, but isn't as engaging when it feels like it's just biding time until Goku healed up. Even a nice bit of humour thrown in there with Goku biting Frieza's tail.
