So it ended. It feels unreal especially since this series has been largely episodic.

Although I've been a great fan of Gintama for a while, the final arc has been somewhat of a bumpy ride, and it's not necessarily the story's fault. We've been teased with a lot of fake endings (both anime and manga), and being an anime-only up until the end of the last season, I was constantly in the finale mindset, not expecting the story to drag on for a lot longer.  Everything after the everyone vs Utsuro fight in the anime felt like last minute additions to the story and it confused me. Even though we like to joke about Gorilla not being able to end the manga, I feel like it would've been a lot better if Gorilla-sensei planned the ending out properly so I can experience the manga without constantly worrying about how the story is going to wrap up in a mere couple of chapters.  I'll have to read the entire arc again sometime to be able to process everything properly.

Epilogue (of the epilogue lol) was absolutely perfect. There's no way Gintama would end without everyone hijacking the narration. It's Gintama at its very heart.

Lol, I love how the signs on the final page all say something about Gintama ending. But what a great final chapter! As expected, Shouyou-sensei sacrificed himself to stop the Alltana overflow, but that final moment with him and Gintoki was so good. Although the first half was more on the intense side, I'm glad the series ended off with the shenanigans we'd expect from this series. I love how every character got a proper closure (well, minus a certain Joui patroit) and everyone got a chance to say something. Most final chapters just show a panel of every character, but Gintama gave a chance for everyone to get used as a joke. Plus it felt lengthy too, thanks to some HxH-level of dialogue-heaviness. I actually wasn't expecting Kamui to get some focus too, so that was nice to see. And Sorachi be trolling with Kondo and Otae's relationship again, lol. Although it wasn't explicitly explained, but I guess that child that came out of the Altana was of Takasugi's remains (and technically Oboro's too, I guess).

Actually thought that Gintama completed recreating history and Edo actually became Tokyo. But it seems like the Yorozuya shall still go on! But damn, it's hard to take in the fact that this series is finally over. Rarely does a long-running series end this perfectly, and I'm glad that Gintama was able to not lose any steam during its final sprint towards the finish line. Gintama will always be dear to me because it was responsible for changing and shaping me to the person I am now, and I'll always be grateful to Sorachi-sensei for that. But it's time for that Gorilla to take a rest XD

Also, Yamazaki deserves a volume cover, so him and his 108 personalities should take over the final volume's cover.

It's hard to believe it's actually over.

So many 4th wall breaking moments which is to be expected of this series. Everyone dying wraps up the story lol

I'm going to miss this series.

I really liked this chapter! And its nice to see Makoto found a reborn Takasugi she looked so happy it kinda made my eyes a bit teary.

I only read the last two chapters while I watched the the whole anime

That was the ending Gintama deserved. Yorozuya forever!

Also, this has been going around twitter like a wildfire so I'd love to share it here too:

Gintama joining the other concluded shonen

This was kind of going through the motions but it did it well regardless, had alot of great laughs and a very gintama fashion send off. It was mostly a return to status quo ending which I think we all were expecting.

The only thing I'm mixed on is the whole reborn takasugi, like I get that he's gonna be a completely different person because of it but it'd just be better with him dead for real i think.

Not a fan of Gintama, but seeing how everyone loves the ending, I can already tell this is getting number 1 spot when the anime adapts that last season.nah i dont think theres much chance, the anime is only gonna cover like the last 20 some chapters and while those are good gintama constantly got the top spots back in the day when it was a more episodic series with loads of variety occasionally dabbling in drama every now and again to spice it up, with these last arcs theyv been a consistent serious arc with comedy on the side and these last few episodes are just cleaning up whats left. It'l get a good score but i doubt its even gonna get a top 10 tbh.
