The ending was similar to that of the Anime, with hopes instilled, and leaving the question of "What the heck just happened"
But it was depressing, as all logic would define, it just can't be a good ending... The story, mostly revolving around Kaede's misery, ended with her never getting what she wanted... Her doubts being proven. This ending made the end of the Anime look like the cheeriest thing ever. In fact, thanks to this, I now HAVE to re watch the Anime just to clear my mind.
You know, actually... Thinking about the ending of the Manga... I expect those two girls were hallucinations, which changes my perception of the Anime. Perhaps... the ending of that was just, an illusion of the mind? Although someone obviously had arrived, could the shadow, the clock, and the music box be illusions?
