for me, being hacked to pieces (having multiple parts of your body severed), is actually worse (ignoring the importance of the brain of course) than decapitation (as that just involves a single part of your body being severed).
though with Claymores, hacked to pieces, is more survivable than decapitation, which isn't at all. Great examples of this is Cynthia and Clare, as they were both missing their entire lower bodies and still lived on.
I said that because we couldn´t see Miria dying, we only see an arm flying. So I would belive that she died if I see something like Teresa´s scene. And as you say, hacked to pieces is worse because you don´t die in the instant, you suffer and die slowly.
I think Miria is alive, but it´s only what I think, I don´t have solid arguments, it´s like a hunch.
