Well it took me 10 months but I finally got around to it. And it's the first manga I've completed to boot!
Honestly I was disappointed with this chapter until the very last page. "I Am a Girl" by Nitori Shuichi. That's when it sunk in and hit me. In the end, Nitori stayed true to himself and will continue to identify with girls, regardless of how much he changes and grows. I like how Takatsuki developed as well, taking the opposite route but showing that neither path was more correct than the other. Although I really feel for her, it's sad how she ended up realizing an unrequited love for Shu when it was too late.
Even after taking so much time off, the majority of the characters remained extremely memorable to me. And I think it's ironically because none of them really stood out. The drama was at a bare minimal, the character interactions were very intriguing, and the progression through each major character's growth and the journey through their sexuality as well as their sexual identity was well done. Not to mention that due to the lack of climatic moments, it felt like I was watching the lives of people slowly unfold, not reading a story.
Also been meaning to say this at some point but Sasa was so cute and Chi was extremely hilarious.
Anyway this was a nice, thought provoking story and I'll miss having it on my reading list. 8/10
Edit: After some thought, I think one of the biggest selling points about this manga was how much compassion I felt for the characters. I wasn't thinking "Yuki is the transvestite, Mako is homosexual, Nitori is the cross dresser, and Takatsuki is the tomboy." Rather than focusing on what they were, the story brought out the best of who they were.
I can't stop thinking about how much I enjoyed this manga and how natural and flowing it felt to me. Final verdict - 9/10 and favorited.
