So, I just finished reading the rest of the manga from where Fairy Tail 2014 finished and here are my thoughts:
Personally, I enjoyed watching the series, it is a fun and adventurous anime. However, I can understand why so many people disapprove of it and how it ended and why it gets so much hate. The ending DID feel rushed, it's like everything just got clustered in and everything was just all over the place.
It's like the whole series is directed to 8 year olds. Like an actual fairy tale, it has a happy ending. Everything was so simple and basic, friendship power defeating evil, so cliche. Fairy Tail is on par with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It's so repetitive, they get stronger and then defeat their enemies. No matter how strong the enemies seem, in the end, they get defeated by nakama power. Rarely anyone dies. Time and time again, Hiro constantly trolls everyone with death flags. When a character supposedly dies, they come back. The only manly part about this whole series is the fanservice.
But the things I love are the plottwists and suspensefulness. Hiro really knows how to hype things up. I really love Zeref and Acnologia. Acnologia especially was so epic. If you think about it, Acnologia is the bigger villain than Zeref because if it wasn't for him, Natsu would not have died 400 years ago. Zeref would not have the curse because he won't be researching on how to get his younger brother back. Zeref and Natsu would be dead 400 years ago and the whole story of Fairy Tail would not have even happened.
What I want to know is Acnologia's backstory. If I recall correctly, towards the end of the manga he says that his family was killed by the dragons. So if it wasn't for that, maybe he wouldn't have been so evil and become this dark dragon which started all of this chaos. The other thing I want to know is the curse that Zeref got. Who cursed him and how? Am I supposed to believe that it was just because of some supernatural being that cursed him without any explanation and out of anyone's control? Because if that's the case, then that's lame.
So much potential has been wasted, but I still love this series.
