August just like Irene is/was so hyped up (for more than a year!) that whatever's about to go down between him and Gildarts will be a big disappointment. I mean no matter how decent the fight will be, it will probably still be a let down because the mankaga has made August out to be a God so no matter what he does with the character now it will still not live up to the hype unless as someone mentioned earlier^ they have a August vs gildarts and a few strong fairy tail mages battle(maybe Jellal and Luxus)





P.S. I'm still not over how much of a disappointment Irene's character and fight with Erza was

Gildarts has to defeat August.

Gray is too injured to fight Zeref.

August becomes suddenly shit in power level as the plot demands it. Not so long ago a casual spell from him would be a giant heat pillar killing everyone within a massive distance. Now it's just a simple, dodgable, small beam.



There is no reason anyone should be able to be 1v1ing him at all, with the buildup given of him being stronger than all other spriggans and so far basically having the ability to use basically any spell he wants. Going by his fight with the oracien seis, he should immediately use a full counter to Gildarts's ability and win easily, or just use the same magic and easily defeat him.

Only August remains, let's hope Gildarts can stand up to him.

so like Zeref is confronted with Grey what will he do I suppose....
