Really Monad? I always pegged you for being a bit more civilized. And while I agree with most of your points, ridiculously aggressive though you were in stating them, the torture scene with Erza was an issue because it was far more extreme than any fanservice prior to this in the series. In one panel, it even looked like that demon bird lady (please don't try to be clever by correcting me on her name, I am capable of looking it up myself) was fingering Erza. With claws. I'm still not entirely convinced that that was not intentional.
It was also the way the fanservice was shown. Sorry, but as a feminist (yes I am please spare me the typical uncreative and uneducated insults such as feminazi and moralfag, forever alone dyke lesbian and what have you) and, well, as a human being, I'm not too cool with fan service being in the form of a torture scene, especially with a character like Erza and especially in a series like Fairy Tail where for the most part, it's all sparkles and sunshine.
And, again, I say this as an ENORMOUS FT fangirl. Fanfiction, fanart, cosplay, blah blah blah I've said it all before.
What pointless drivel. First obviously a person like you isn't slightly included in my argument cause you are a female. Obviously as a female you would hardly find the Fairy Tail girls fanservice as anything enticing or an element that adds enjoyment to the manga anymore that i will enjoy watching Mashima focusing on the guys apps and shots of their crotch in tight pants.
At best you can try to ignore such fanservice if it has any other elements you want to see or you just figure out this manga isn't really focused at pleasing your particular preferences and find something else more in your taste like i do by avoiding some shoujo type stuff etc.
As i see it the elements in Fairy Tail that make it worth reading is fanservice, comedy, art, and some brainless action. For someone like you those elements are probably down by one and i think is pretty natural but you can't come around saying to me that you are capable on judging whether the fanservice element makes it better or worse when the fanservice element is not even meant to be as something that can attract someone like you.
Whether you are a huge fan of Fairy Tail regardless that's your issue and god knows what the hell you are a big fun for. Maybe the comedy element is enough for you cause i have a hard time believing you love the non-existent amazing storytelling.
Also you may not be cool about female fanservice mixed with torture but elements such as this have long being an attraction to the artistic mind and inspiration. From the naked paintings of old classic artist to the carnage scenes they used to portray and combinations for it.
So spare me the "as a human being" bullshit. As a human being am amazed you lack the ability to understand that an artistic mind will search even those and there is a certain artistic value there too. You just seem to lack the understanding of what a "human being" is considering humans if defined by anything is their ability for searching and doing absolutely everything.
Stick with the feminist label that makes sense since feminists are as tolerant to depictions opinions and words in arts and media that they dislike as much as Joseph Stalin was.
