I agree with some of what you said, but you must admit that
A shojo by definition is destined to women, no matter how many men read it, it's destined to women.
Same thing with shonen and seinen, by definition they are destined to Men or adolescent no matter how many women's read it
From this we can say that a Shonen that attract women more than man, then something is wrong with it, especially battle shonen, that simply means that the author failed... ultimate fail, when your art is destined for adult and you realize that kids are more attracted than adults.. that's a fail
So whats sooo abnormal that attract women more than men...
-relation between character, like you said romance, now, i don't mind to have some romance in a manga, but i do mind if the manga is oriented romance.... yeah i'm sorry FT is oriented romance, no matter how many fights we got, there is a tons of romantic scene in this manga just for example
-natsu/lucy, gray/juvia, gajeel/levy, elefman/ever green, erza/gerard, carla/happy (fuck even cats... cats love), Biska/Arzak,
secondary lyon/juvia, loki/lucy, lisanna/natsu
and don't be surprised if cana/someone, mirajane/someone, laxus/someone etc etc
just name me one battle shonen manga that outnumber FT in romance?, in fact, i've never read shojo, but can you name me 5shojo that have 10 relationship?? i don't think it exists.
Just another example (i know it's not a solid support) but we can at least have an idea about what's intersting in the manga
here is FT's fan page in FB (the pictures) (look at how many romantic picture at least 75-80%)
http://www.facebook.com/Fairy.Tail.KAI/photos_stream
another battle shonen manga , One Piece and Naruto (romantic pictures represent like 5%)

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Naruto/10573221005?id=10573221005&sk=photos_stream
go look at bleach, HxH and other battle shonen.
that's a fact.
another thing, character development, there is absolutely no character development in this manga... whats the difference between Natsu in the beginning of the manga, and actual natsu, same thing with erza, gray, lucy.
like in every manga we have a sensation that character get stronger and stronger, they grow up (luffy, naruto, ichigo, gon, goku, yusuke etc etc), but here you can bring natsu from chapter 1, he can defeat sting and rogue... yeah i'm serious, you know how fucked up is this? it's like any strength problem in this manga can be solved by friendship&love... like if lucy got a problem natsu will come out and tell her "ohh don't worry babe i'm here i will protect you", and there you go, the antagonist can be strongest man in the world yet natsu will defeat him because of a nakama power up.
another problem for this series the storyline, very poor, sometimes we completely forget about it, what dragons? i almost forgot that natsu was searching a dragon...
I feel as if Mashino completely forgot that Natsu is searching for Igneel. I also feel as if he forgot around chapter 50.
This chapter, like the entire arc, was lackluster and void of substance. Future Lucy died? Oh, was I suppose to feel emotionally attached to a character that has been in, what seems like, 10 total panels?
I feel as if the plots are getting a lil too "out there" or "illogical". Even for a manga about wizards and magic.
