This is how it's going to end. Natsu beats the crap out of Gerard, Zeref stops possessing him and flies away, Gerard awakens and everyone is somehow convinced that he's back to his old self. Natsu: "Well, if you'd like, you can join Fairy Tail!"

Yeah, me too. I really thought, well actually hoped, that Zeref would be revived.
