Vinland Saga Chapter 93 Discussion

  • #18
This is starting to get redundant. Ketil is a dick. We know. Cycle of violence. We know. Einar loves Arneis. We know.

I'm glad we finally got rid of Arneis though. And it looks like the farmland saga might be done. Now somebody just needs to off Einar and send Thorfinn into a murderous rampage. Then I will be happy.

damn, reading some of the older comments, I can definitely tell that ya'll really don't like this arc. I personally loved this arc A LOT, mainly because of character growth and the themes the author is trying to convey.

Yukimura skipped Canute's marriages, which were supposed to take place at the time Askeladd was around, so I'm not so sure about Thorfinn. Though, if Thorfinn is going to follow in Thors' footsteps it will be good for his development to fall in love and start a family of his own.

Yukimura seems to have no intention of having Thorfinn hurt as much as a fly, so the only murder you can hope for is from Canute's side, since he's willing to go as far as removing anyone who stands in his way.

The purpose of this chapter is to show that Thorfinn had turned from an advocate of revenge to someone who's against it. And for better or for worse, we'll see Thorfinn preventing people's death instead of killing them.

I think Thorfinn and Canute will get married at the same time

Canute's marriage will likely be political in nature

I wonder where the story will go from here on out. It's safe to assume that Thorfinn will stop by his village at some point. There's also a lot that needs to be cleared up about Thors, like his past with Floki and what had caused him to change from a warmonger to a kindhearted family man. I think Thorfinn visiting his parents' hometown and meeting his grandparents will bring that to light.

As for Canute, now that he seems to have secured funds for war there's the conquest on Norway, and of course Yukimura's version of Canute and the waves. Can't wait to see where this manga is heading.

Can't wait for more chapters. I really wonder what the author wants to do now.

Even though I really enjoying watching Thorfinn's killing spree in the earlier chapters, I still find these recent chapters good as well. I don't know, I guess the author is just good at telling his story.

This felt like the end of the beginning before we get into the main plot, and... its already a masterpiece I think.

----------------------------------------

                        Raws are out.

Ketil is alive. During her last moments Einar confesses his love to Arnise, and in his attempt to empower her will to live Thorfinn mentions Vinland and asks Arnise to go there with them. Arnise dies anyway and Snake shows up with Ketil on his back, Einar loses it and tries to avenge Arnise. Thorfinn tries to stop him and begs him that killing Ketil will not bring Arnise back and killing will only lead to more killing. Thorfinn ends up punching him to bring him to his senses. After burying Arnise Einar asks Thorfinn if what he said was true about Vinland and ends up deciding to go there together to build a country free of war and slavery. FINALLY!

The battle is over. I wonder if this is the last we'll ever see of Snake, and what ever happened to Thorgil and Orman?
