If they're going to let Thorfinn go, he should get a choice. Fight Canute's men, or escape. And if he escapes, he'll have to fight them at some time. So i'm expecting battles.

Thorgil might be a brute but he certainly got some wit to him unlike his foolish brother who hopefully will be a lot more humble after this whole ordeal (if he survives that is)

I checked the raws for this chapter. Canute's line that caused this debate roughly translates to "all of this is for the love that has been lost", which could be a reference to the biblical love thing that the priest talked about that initiated Canute's change.  im a bit late to the party but i would agree it certainly fits
