                        Oh wow... I didn't see that coming. Though now that the Prince turns out to be worthless in terms of gaining power through being his vassal then what is Askeladd going to do about the prince? kill him or just continue with the plan and get the other prince killed.

So now Askeladd who thought just rescuing Prince Canute would guarantee him power is now fighting on for the losing side of this battle between Canute and his brother Prince Harold. I also find it ironic how last chapter Canute said there is no father who doesn't love his son and now we find out the king was trying to have Canute killed.

PS: is Chanute the real US transcription of the prince's name or is it solely used in the manga ? It sounds really far from the european one.

I can see Askeladd making Chanute the new king (and maybe kill not just his brother but also his father)

Chanute will likely undergo some character development and also become more mature facing his mentor's (father figure I dare say) death and the harsh realities of war. Being left with Thorfinn and Askeladd, there's no way for him to continue his comfortable lifestyle.

I assume at some point of the story he will also have to face the fact that his father favoured his elder brother and didn't love him as much as he would like to believe (-> a stark contrast to his declaration at the grave during the prayer)

Take that Askeladd!
