Vesper was meant to be a messiah. Born with darkness behind her left eye and the ability to touch vast alien consciousnesses, she was raised by the Church of the Eternal Eye to be their bridge to powers beyond comprehension. But when she discovered their true intentions – to use her as a living gate for entities that would destroy our world – she escaped, leaving devastation in her wake.

Now, the Church desperately seeks a replacement, seeding innocent people with fragments of eldritch power that drives most to madness and death. Working with a resistance group led by the enigmatic Marcus, Vesper races to stop the very atrocities she was trained to enable. But as the body count rises and new patterns emerge in the Church\'s activities, she faces an impossible choice: confront the destiny she fled, or watch as the Church tears apart the city trying to create a new messiah.

Complicating matters is a dangerous attraction to someone she should consider an enemy, forcing Vesper to question everything she thinks she knows about allegiance, redemption, and the true nature of the forces she can touch but never fully understand. As the barriers between dimensions grow thinner and an ancient convergence approaches, Vesper must decide if saving humanity means sacrificing her own.
