"Strangely accelerated pacing with a great reflection, it's like a speedrun of sensibility" - Julian "The goat" Lucas

Sketch of Hinako Takanaga, and I think because it takes place in college, it had an even greater impact on me, dealing with everything that happens in an art school. But more than that, it gave me a view of how homosexuality was perceived in the past, considering that a large part of my experience with this kind of media tends to marginalize gay people. Especially the part where Nagi feels somewhat obligated to become a trans person in order to feel worthy enough to date a man is a perspective I've never seen before, and for me, it seems very specific to Japan, despite all its freedoms regarding gender. I tend to prefer stories that are more believable when it comes to gay relationships, so seeing Nagi, someone openly gay (despite some relationship standards having feminine archetypes), being forced to work in a gay bar, and actually all the trans women there being in poverty, stood out. But I think the focal point of the manga is the relationship between Nagi and Kaji, and I find it especially endearing how Kaji openly accepts their relationship and isn't afraid to show it, a kindness that even unsettles Nagi. Someone declaring their love openly to everyone, and I think it’s a pretty realistic story because of that, bringing up issues like sexual pressure from others, and there’s even a scene dedicated to the difficulty transgender people face in finding stable partners and being relegated to "lovers." I think the art sometimes contrasts with the heavy themes, but I believe that only makes the manga stand out more and differentiate it from most others. The pacing, being a one-shot, is a bit faster, but I think it’s a beautiful example of how Nagi and Kaji's personalities conflict, with Kaji being open about their relationship to everyone while Nagi has insecurities, which is ironic. Lovers really are the busiest type of people, and I think all the many difficulties of being in a gay relationship only reinforce the intense love involved in each of these relationships ~~~~

    Regarding the other three stories:

    From My First Love I:
WAY TOO much melodrama for them not to end up together, and the lost love revealing they're BI at the end?!?!!?! Brooooo. I thought it was relatively basic, but anytime there's a time jump in yaoi showing when they're old, it warms my heart.

    Wish Upon a Star:
Pretty hit or miss, it's a great coming-of-age story, but I found the ending frustrating, with the love interest leaving and no satisfying conclusion. To me, it felt rushed.

    From My First Love II:
Now THIS IS REALLY GOOD. Who would’ve thought stories from the Seme's point of view could be interesting (I’ve been discovering this recently with Sasaki and Miyano), but even though some things are questionable, like the pajama party scene, I think this bittersweet ending is much more cathartic through Kamota's perspective, seeing how everything could have worked out.

The side story "Boku no Shookoi ni Tsuite" impacted me so intensely that I can never revisit this manga. Don't. Even. Consider it. I'm genuinely unable to articulate the depth of my distress over that side story. It truly wounded me. The sole reason for my extended rambling is that my review requires more content. The side story concluded so dismally that it tarnished my entire perception of the manga, making it impossible for me to read it again. I'm unsure how much clearer I can be about this... Nonetheless... it still isn't sufficient... Hmm... I enjoyed "Kimi ga Koi ni Ochiru," perhaps you all should give it a try?... Finally, it was accepted....

This manga wasn't the worst I've ever read, but I don't think I'll be recommending it.
I didn't particularly enjoy the art style in this manga. It felt a bit rough around the edges.
The plot was surprisingly realistic compared to typical yaoi storylines. However, I'm not sure if that's a good thing. After all, we read fiction to escape reality. When something becomes too grounded in realism, it can lose its appeal and become dull. Additionally, cliffhangers are frustrating, and one of the stories in this manga ends with one.
What bothered me the most, though, was the protagonist of the main story. He has certainly faced his fair share of challenges, so it makes sense that he struggles with insecurity. But I found him to come across as weak, petty, and immature—three traits that are especially problematic for a protagonist unless the work is a comedy, which this manga is not.

I enjoy this story because it's humorous, adorable, and heartwarming, and so are the characters. Personally, I adore the mangaka's art style, and it's intriguing how the mangaka addresses Nagi's night job. However, my favorite part of this manga is the second story, "My First Love." It's truly amazing and touching, presenting both sides of the story. I genuinely hope that someday the mangaka will create another chapter of this beautiful tale.
