The Dark Protector

Avani holds the distinction of being the last surviving earth dragon on Earth, and even more uniquely, the sole male. The other three elemental dragons - air, water, and fire - are all female. Should he not mate with one of them, the pure dragon lineage would come to an end. However, Avani rejects the idea of partnering, choosing instead to protect the forest as a free spirit, unwilling to let anyone control him. Hunters relentlessly search for supernatural beings, forcing them into gladiatorial arenas for entertainment and experimentation. They've recently turned their attention to creating a new breed of hybrid creatures. Due to Avani's ability to shift from his vibrant emerald green scales to obsidian-like onyx, those he saves affectionately call him "The Dark Protector." Merethyl, an elven princess, tragically witnesses the murder of her family during an attack. She and her brother Yhendorn manage to escape, but Yhendorn sacrifices himself to ensure her safety. Fleeing for her life, Merethyl becomes the target of relentless hunters. Avani hears her cries and swiftly comes to her aid, eliminating her pursuers. Drawn to her unique scent, Avani recognizes the potential danger of allowing her to claim him, fearing it would grant her complete control over him. Yet, Merethyl has nowhere else to turn and desperately needs Avani's help to rescue her brother. In this compelling narrative, the question arises: Can Avani withstand Merethyl's allure, or will he succumb to her, becoming her dragonrider, and changing both their destinies forever?
