what would modern/near future chinese novel be without a drop of nationalism/racism? not a chinese novel. usual target for chinese to target are japanese, koreans and sometimes americans, so i guess i have to add author creativity point cause it targets indians. totally no connection with recent india chinese border clash. overall china numbah wan, we honorable, indians use despicable tactics. usual morality bs so mc can justifiably kill antagonists. nationalism notwithstanding just premise of the novel is stupid. author doesnt know how genes work, so he mixed "genes" with usual xianxia cultivation trope of acupuncture holes. you dont clear holes, but you activate "genes" by sending energy to them and they give you special powers. there are major and minor plotholes everywhere so i would recommend reading something else.0 0 Reply

Parasyte System is an enjoyable albeit flawed power fantasy. Let me briefly unpack that. I have now read every chapter currently available on Webnovel, and I have to say, this is a mixed bag. I'll start with the good. The story is interesting. The backstory of the proliferation, The three classes and their different attributes is intriguing. The characters are charming. There is a lot to enjoy about this Webnovel. If the story ended here, I'd have no problem strongly recommending this story to anyone who crosses my path. Unfortunately, the story doesn't end here. There is a myriad of problems with this Webnovel. I'll now unpack the most egregious.Giving some credit where its due, for a non-native to the English language, the author is very promising. I've seen webnovels on this platform written by native English speakers done worse. That isn't to say this is done well. The biggest gaffes of this work isn't even related to the English language, but rather writing conventions. I'll start with the most unforgivable. The author begins the story writing in the first-person perspective. A few chapters down the line, the author moves into the third-person perspective. I understand the reason. Worldbuilding is difficult in the first-person. It isn't impossible, but it is difficult. The author made the choice to break free from the perspective he chose in order to easier tell a bigger story. The issue is, he never went back to change the first few chapters into the third-person. Chapters after the impromptu change, I was still unsure as to what was happening, who was narrating, who exactly we were meant to be following. I did eventually key onto the change in POV, however, were I not internally compelled to carry on, I would have dropped this webnovel immediately. It's not an easy fix, but it is a necessary one. The first few chapters really need to be changed to reflect the authors chosen POV. The next big issue, not fatal like the one above, but still bad, is the author's maddening choice to constantly repeat information that has just been provided, A character will say something, conveying information to the reader, the author will then repeat the information provided in dialogue in the narration. Why do this? It baffles me. It really detracts from the work, Breaking away from this convention is a small change that would radically improve this work. Another issue is that there is a lot of telling and little to no showing. Emotions are not conveyed through the use of creative writing, the reader is just told what the characters are feeling. This isn't as much of a problem as the two issues stated above, however, fixing it would really improve this webnovel.I'm certain that there are more issues with this webnovel, but that isn't to say that it's not an enjoyable read. Parasyte System is a diamond in a lot of rough. It would blind in its brilliance, but only if the author is willing to really polish.0 0 Reply

I came to this novel when it was featured two months ago. Being the only "newly minted" novel without a single review or many views among the others in the list, I decided to give it a try, Looking at the caution about the novel possessing multiple main characters, it was rather unexpected. And to be completely honest, I was blown away.As a cultivation novel, the cultivation scheme is truly unique from the other novels I read so far. Although the naming scheme is similar to others, following the generic Xianxia format, the novel begins by introducing two concepts of existences, mortal and immortal, with distinct differences between them. The concept of immortals sacrificing a fundamental component of their existence in exchange for a true immortal life, and mortals unable to reincarnate once they begin cultivating, is truly a fascinating idea for a novel. Just by reading the novel with a cleared mind, it's fairly obvious that the way in which certain terminology are explained and introduced - by bouncing around a concept among multiple protagonists - allows for the reader to quickly understand without having to search on Google. The fight scenes are relatively short, ending in a few exchanges, and I like that a lot. Not only does the clean, detailed description of each technique represents the author's dedication to the novel and the story's world alongside of its intrinsic elements, the novel doesn't deviate in a way that would confuse a reader who has never picked up a cultivation novel before. Yes, a few exchanges in a fight may be short for some readers, but it adheres to the concept that a fight generally consists of a few lethal blows, maybe longer fights if they are evenly matched, not to mention that the battles aren't skewed towards the protagonists. The management between the three protagonists is simply amazing and worthy of respect. Not only are these characters interconnected in one profound way or another, the "plots" of each protagonist aren't independent routes. The decision of organizing the story in a chronological format, rather than a volume per character, is rather courageous and commendable. Not only do the readers get to know what happens in other places at the same time, it also represents change over time in society, cultivation hierarchy, or some other event - the novel possesses that potential, unlike many others at the early developmental stages.Personally, I wished for there to be a little more dialogue. However, as I read on further, I realized that there was indeed no need to. The author adopts a considerably slower plot development rate than others, but is compensated for by detailed world building. Everything is properly introduced before the character makes their entry, and is defined in easily understandable layers. The internal monologue of characters are exquisitely described by action and not in a subform of dialogue, which is another interesting trait of the novel, one I have not seen for a long while. If possible, this novel definitely needs to get the attention of many others. It's a superb piece of work, and although it's only on the first volume, the author's sheer work and care for the novel is fairly obvious.0 0 Reply

Author review here.I created this novel because I wanted to read this kind of story. It has tension and stakes, it has hype and exciting moments. It has funny moments, it has sad moments. The main character has admirable moments, but he has flaws. The side characters have their own flaws, but they have redeeming moments. I wanted to write this kind of all-around story that is not just power fantasy, but also focuses on characters.I am a big fan of kingdom building, so the story will revolve around that. I have sown some seeds of kingdom building here and there in the start of the story, but it will only show itself after the first arc.But of course, there will be action. You will have to read how Patty destroys his enemies mercilessly while being lazy and doing the very least. The story paints a bigger world and history, and our protagonist encounters more characters that shows that, whether he likes to or not.And as the title says, He Will Be Lazy, despite how the other characters and the story tries their best to make him not be lazy.Give this novel a read if you like those kinds of stories. Thank you for reading :)0 0 Reply

Oh Jaehyun, hearing the acid in her tone, looked up to observe her. If there's anything he was best at, it would be deciphering Chung Ji-Eun's every expression. And right now, she's not looking all that calm.
0 0 Reply
