For most, transmigrating into a fantasy world is the start of an epic adventure—wielding legendary weapons, gaining overpowered abilities, and living a life of grandeur.
For our protagonist, however, it’s nothing but a bureaucratic nightmare. One moment, he was a burnt-out office worker finishing reports at midnight, and the next, he found himself inside Pinnacle of Mysteries, a cutthroat RPG infamous for its merciless difficulty.
Worse, he’s not a hero, a villain, or even a major character—just an unknown captive on the verge of execution.
To survive, he strikes an unlikely bargain with an ancient, forgotten being: the Lord of the Forgotten Abyss—a calamity sealed away long before the game's timeline even begins.
Their pact grants him power, but it comes with a maddening catch: the Abyss Lord, for now, manifests as an overly proud fox with a tendency to give cryptic advice and demand extravagant meals.
Navigating this world is far from easy. Powerful factions rule with an iron grip, and the forces of fate seem determined to shove him into the path of disasters.
To make matters worse, he soon realizes that reality diverges from the game in ways he never expected. Events happen too early, key figures behave unpredictably, and unknown forces manipulate the world from the shadows.
The storylines he once memorized? Useless. The safe zones? Now battlegrounds. The villainous factions? More fractured and cunning than they ever were in the game.
As he struggles to piece together his place in this world, he finds himself entangled with figures who should be far beyond his reach.
Yet, these are just the beginning of his troubles. The game’s hidden routes, thought to be mere flavour text by players, hold dark truths about the world's foundations.
The Gods who shaped civilization have grown silent, and something ancient and hungry stirs beneath reality.
Meanwhile, the villains he once dismissed as mere bosses—criminal lords, rogue sorcerers, and exiled royals—are beginning to notice him.
Some want him dead, some want to use him, and some… some whisper that he may be exactly what they’ve been waiting for.
Faced with conspiracies, betrayals, and relentless pursuit, he must navigate treacherous political landscapes, outwit enemies far beyond his level, and keep his not-so-helpful abyssal fox companion from making things worse.
But as he delves deeper, one question haunts him:
Did he truly transmigrate into the game he knew?
Or was Pinnacle of Mysteries always something far, far greater?
The Lord of Villains Is Just an Ordinary Civil Servant is a tale of deception, survival, and the absurdity of bureaucracy in a world where power reigns supreme.
In a place where fate is written in blood and magic, he will have to carve out his own path—whether that means being a hero, a villain, or something else entirely.
But really, all he wants is a stable job, a decent salary, and a way to avoid getting stabbed every other day.
Unfortunately, fate has other plans.

I just like this novel, and in addition many people are so horrible! Rating this piece of treasure 3 stars because the "release speed is slow". Its 5 chapters a week, like many other novels on this site, yet these people keep rating these new novels low ratings because "not enough chapters0 0 Reply

It is sad to inform that one of the biggest problems in the world today is food waste. There is still quality soil and plenty of water, but we need to make food reach poor places, at low cost and with quality. This is more logistical than spatial dependence. After all, there is ample urban space where it is possible to grow food.0 0 Reply

Really great novel.I generally either like op mc from the start or one where mc grows quickly, plot-wise. And this falls into the former, which is just as welcome as the latter. However, mc is still not too op, which is also appreciated. Not everyone can have a good story with an unbeatable mc like opm. therefore, I like such plots more, where there are people who can beat up mc.good job so far, waiting for more chapters0 0 Reply
