“Dad, in my previous life I was a knight.”
“Huh?”
During dinner time, while eating the horrifying food made by her dad, his daughter Jin-hee said.
“To be precise, I was the commander of the Imperial Capital Defense Knights and my name was Bazett, but on the day I was to become the family head, I was poisoned to death by my younger brother. But those memories have now resurfaced.”
“Uh……”
Jin-hee rubbed her habitually dry eyes.
Then, putting down her spoon with a clank, she said.
“So from now on, I’m going to quit my job and make some money as a hunter. Oh, and tonight’s dinner is the worst. I don’t think putting pork belly and bracken in fish cake soup is the way to go.”
“……Doesn’t it seem like a health food?”
“You’ll get sick eating it.”

Due to the distortion of the orbit, gates appeared all over the world, and monsters from other worlds appeared.
Humans who felt mana became superhuman, and in order to close the gates or protect the peace of the Earth, the nation gave them a position.
Hunter.
A being who hunts monsters from other worlds.
The story of Jin-hee, a knight and a hunter, begins.

There aren't many chapters available at the moment, but the translation quality is excellent, and each chapter is quite lengthy, making it well worth a read to see if it suits your taste. I'm giving this a preliminary 5-star rating because it deserves some love and attention to gain momentum, and it's always great to encourage the translator to keep going ;)
So far, we have an overpowered Hunter protagonist who has a past life as a formidable knight. As she explores the Hunter/gate world, she starts uncovering peculiar connections to her former life. The world-building is intriguing, and I hope it develops further down the line.
I'm looking forward to learning more about her past and present personal life and relationships. So far, we've only gotten hints.
For example, Chapter 146 is missing, and I left a comment four weeks ago, but it’s still not there. I tried joining their Discord, but it doesn’t even have active chats. In short, it’s a complete farce.
I’m a Spanish speaker and use a translator to read. For some reason, I haven’t been able to read on Storyseedlyng since Chapter 146 disappeared from their page. Since they don’t translate the chapters, I’ll leave this note for any other Spanish speakers who come across this. The novel is entertaining and worth it, but the page is useless, so you might as well give up on this novel and any other Storyseedlyng novels.
The first 60-odd chapters are free and, in my opinion, are extremely well-written and enjoyable. However, the remaining 130 chapters (out of a total of 191, including the ending) are behind a paywall, costing around $50 USD to complete the story. While some might find it worth it, that’s a bit steep for me—I didn’t even pay that much for all the Hobbit books, and those were physical copies I could put on a shelf! I definitely believe translators should be compensated for their work, especially the good ones, but I’m struggling with basic expenses. So, there you have it. If you can afford it, please consider purchasing the remaining chapters and reading this great story. I’d love to hear what happens!
I tried to approach this story with an open mind, but I found myself getting increasingly frustrated as I read. If you're more patient than I am, you might find something to enjoy. Unfortunately, I did not.
The narrative moves too quickly, with little to no context or reason. It feels as though the beginning has been cut out, leaving us to jump straight into the middle of the story. This is problematic because it's difficult to care about the characters when they are already facing significant challenges without proper introduction or development. To engage with a story, you need to be invested in the characters, and I simply wasn't.
You'd think a strong female protagonist in a world filled with dungeons would be intriguing, but the author managed to drain all my initial excitement. I even tried listening to anime openings to boost my enthusiasm, as this usually helps me power through a boring story. But it didn't work at all this time.
There was nothing else in the story that captured my interest enough to overcome my disengagement with the characters.
I typically wouldn't write a review after dropping a novel so early, but this was such a unique experience for me. I lost interest after just three chapters and spent the next two hours forcing myself to read, which was a form of self-torture. I'm genuinely puzzled by how this story managed to completely sap my interest so quickly. It's as if all the right elements were present, but something went terribly wrong. How did it end up like this? I'm truly baffled.
Edit: I realize my review might come across as overly critical, so I want to add that the story has potential, and the translation is excellent. However, what I read lacked any detail that sparked my interest, which is unusual for me. I've read poorly written stories before, and even those managed to hold my attention more than this one. Perhaps someone with a more nuanced understanding can explain what exactly the author did in the beginning that turned me off, because even I can't pinpoint it. It felt like reading through a fog, and even skimming didn't help. The main issue seems to be the pacing. The author assumes the reader will automatically love the characters and jumps right into their story, but without that connection, it becomes frustrating to read about characters you don't care about going through intense situations. The foundation of the story was weak from the start, making everything that follows feel unstable.
I was looking forward to unraveling the story as I read, but I've decided to drop it.
Let me clarify that I do enjoy strong Female Main Characters and romance plotlines; this isn't about that.
I'm just tired of every "strong female MC" instantly attracting a harem of men who fight over her like raccoons on Taco Tuesday.
They introduced a promising love interest that I wanted to explore further, and another potential character to add some tension if needed, but adding a third and having them engage in a childish competition in front of her just ruined it for me.
I'm equally critical of female harems for similar reasons. I'm just tired of stories with female leads always making it about the male characters.
Here, the same thing happens. Every male lead seems to become interested in the female protagonist super quickly. It's all very weird. Even the protagonist admits she's a face-con and offers help because the teen boy is good-looking. If you flip it around, a 30-year-old male protagonist offering help because a teen girl, who isn't an adult yet, is pretty... Is this female protagonist actually a male protagonist in disguise?
I guess it could be a thing for female readers to finally have their ultra-strong female lead, but I’ll be skipping this. If I really want to read a wish-fulfillment novel, I would rather read from a male perspective. Maybe beyond 28 chapters, there might be something interesting, who knows.
