The ML exhibits sincerity and thoughtfulness, while the MC is logical and open-minded, making them a perfect match. The narrative also includes pregnancy and育儿 aspects, evident from the chapter titles, with a focus on their domestic life and the development of their bond. Initially, their romantic journey might seem slow and uneventful, but it rapidly warms up and becomes filled with affection and coziness.
On the positive side, I appreciated the natural and engaging dialogue between the characters, both male and female. The protagonist's level-headedness was a refreshing touch. The depiction of conversations among socialites, focusing on business connections and the intellect required to navigate such a world, was commendable. The antics of the two mothers also provided comic relief, especially from a parent's perspective.
In summary, while the pacing and tense inconsistency detracted from my experience, the character interactions and some aspects of the story's setting were well-executed.
If you're after a heartwarming, realistic portrayal of relationships without fantastical elements, this book would be a great fit. However, if your preference lies in isekai (literally 'other world') adventures, this might not be the novel for you.
Additionally, the story perpetuates common stereotypes about women. They are portrayed as vain and competitive, constantly comparing their husbands for validation. It also reinforces the idea that women should defer to their elders and can become overly concerned over minor things, like someone else wearing a similar dress. These instances contribute to a tiresome reading experience.
The commentary on clichés is neither fresh nor humorous; it often borders on condescending and hypocritical, given how the narrative frequently accepts and even perpetuates outdated stereotypes about women (like their vanity and obsession with fashion). This book doesn't offer any intelligent satire or profound insights. Unfortunately, I found the reading experience draining and unfulfilling. Save your time and look elsewhere for something more engaging.
The protagonist's thoughts are refreshingly realistic, adding depth to the romance that comes across as both sweet and charming. Transmigration and the novel's overarching plot serve as a subtle backdrop, not detracting from the core sweetness of the story – in fact, they provide a unique flavor and a dash of intrigue.
I must commend the translator, Foxaholic, for their excellent work, particularly the practice of introducing key characters and their roles at the beginning of each chapter, making it easier for readers like myself to follow along, especially when reading on an ongoing basis.
In summary, this is a delightful, semi-realistic romance tale with a touch of everyday life and a hint of extra seasoning to keep the reader engaged.
By mid-story, the ML "accidentally" conceived a child with the MC, despite his earlier promise to wait until she completed her university studies before starting a family. The whole situation felt rushed and lacked depth, which made the story feel flat and uninspired. While there were certainly cute moments, they fell short of being compelling. I might consider revisiting it in the future, but for now, it's not on my list.
