Betrayed by his kingdom. Cursed by the gods. Kieran Valcrest, once the greatest champion of the Dominion, was cast into the Abyss—a prison for the forsaken. For a thousand years, he suffered in darkness, hunted by eldritch horrors and ancient beings beyond mortal comprehension.

But he did not break. He did not die. He evolved.

Now, the Abyss has released him, and he returns as something far beyond human—a being feared by gods, kings, and even death itself. The world has changed, yet the corruption that doomed him still festers in the heart of empires.

Armed with the Shadow Sovereign’s Mantle, a power that devours fate itself, Kieran walks the path of vengeance. Monarchs, deities, and celestial forces move against him, but none understand the truth—he is no longer their pawn. He is their reckoning.

In the game of gods and kings… the Forsaken Sovereign bows to none.

So firstly I just wanna state that this is actually a good novel, could even be great. I have issues with a few things though. 1stly too much exposition, way too much exposition. This novel could actually benefit from breaking up and expanding the first few chapters to flush out more intricate details and better character development and such. I feel as though the Author loves this novel and has a great many ideas he wants to implement and it shows by coming off as if he's rushing the development of the story. There's a distinct difference between withholding information and slowly trickling it in after hooking the reader with great action beats and giving information dumps to get critical information out of the way. There are some grammar errors as well as spelling flaws, but by far the biggest issue is the exposition. Sometimes it even rips the reader out of immersion of the story. We gain information that could easily be told to us in more creative ways. Overall the author is creative and even though this is a systems novel, I feel they do a great job of utilizing it as a tool rather than the main focus. The main focus is the world, and there's thought put into this world, which is why the exposition drives me up a wall because you are taking away from truly expanding the beauty of the world. I know this may seem like a rant or bashing but I'm only being tough because you gotta gem here, slow down and polish that baby. If you establish that beginning right all that juicy tid bits i know your rushing to get to will pay off even more.

Not really the type of story that I would enjoy.  The 'system' is more of a minor cheat that offers a method to completely comprehend written techniques.  It only allows the MC to learn techniques that are written down, drawn, or have some sort of visual que left over.  Possibly sword scars would work.  It does not allow him to learn techniques from watching someone perform it at least not so far.  Explanations and lectures are also out.  As far as it being a system, he gets a system window that gives him a record of his techniques and cultivation level.  There is no menus or store functions.  There is no interaction with it either except when he is able to merge two techiques.  So I would just call it a cheat with a visual que.As for story development it starts with the MC captured by bandits and fortunately finds some sort of scribbling on the wall of his cell that provides him a couple of low level techniques.  This allows him to slowly overcome the bandits by luring individuals to the prison.  The story seems to be about how the MC is trying to acquire more techniques or higher level techniques.  He goes to bookstores looking for books that will trigger his progress bar.  He finds a woman with a tattoo that triggers it as well. I ended up skimming through it because it just did not excite me much.  There did not seem to be much draw mentally for me.

i've read the raws for this a long time ago it has like 500 something chapters a lot of people felt like it was incomplete towards the end. idk if its a haitus or the author completed it in a rush or something . Regardless the story is great Mc is not the only one with system. 2 more people get systems one gets the all knowing (omnipotent) system, the other gets the supreme life body system. i'll give 3 stars cos unique storyline but the rushed or rather somewhat off ending ruined it for me.
