Ning Shu had dropped dead. But in a burst of good fortune, she became a task-taker in charge of counterattacking for the pitiful cannon fodders. Thus, Ning Shu, in one world after another, took all kinds of life roles and encountered all kinds of “you’re heartless, you’re ruthless, you’re making trouble for no reason” people. She encountered all sorts of white lotus flowers, green tea b*tches, scheming b*tches, by the batch.

“Does any true beauty still exist in the world?!” Bellowed Ning Shu angrily. “You annoying tr*sh! I’m just here to counterattack, please don’t get in the way of me completing my task.” Transmigration main character, reincarnation main character. There’s only a lazy task-taker, no indestructible main character halo. Ning Shu had no choice, but to painfully gather moral integrity in each of the worlds.

This narrative stands out due to its well-developed cast of characters, each with their own beliefs, ambitions, and emotional depth. The story unfolds with numerous character developments, plot twists, and deaths, providing a rich tapestry for readers to engage with. The author offers insightful commentary on societal biases, particularly regarding gender, and explores themes of justice and power.

The protagonist undergoes a profound moral evolution as she matures, captivating readers with her growth and independence. She values freedom above all else – the freedom of her body, mind, and choices, even in the face of societal expectations. Although romance plays a minor role, her understanding of love's complexities comes from witnessing its tragic consequences in her various lives.

However, the portrayal of humanity as universally virtuous may be a point of contention for some, especially given the author's choice to elevate humans as the pinnacle of intelligence and resilience. As a hamster supremacist, this aspect might be less appealing, though others may overlook it.

In terms of translation, while this web novel from China initially had potential concerns about nationalism or subtle racism, these issues are relatively minimal in this particular story. There are a few minor aspects that could bother sensitive readers, but overall, they should not detract significantly from the narrative.

To sum up, the story is an engaging and thought-provoking journey with well-rounded characters and a focus on personal growth,尽管它在某些观念上可能具有局限性。

What makes this novel unique is that it challenges typical clichés often found in female-oriented web novels, such as romance and the admiration for unlikeable male leads. However, it does so by incorporating elements from male-dominated xianhuan (cool/cold-hearted cultivation) stories, which initially seem fresh but quickly become repetitive due to the protagonist's habit of forcefully "besting" anyone who opposes him, regardless of their point.

My suggestion would be to read it chapter by chapter, skipping over the parts you find unappealing, and if the repetitive nature starts to lose its charm, feel free to take a break and come back to it another day.

The most frustrating Chinese novel I've ever read, honestly, it's such a letdown. I invested a lot of effort and emotional energy into it, only to be met with an overwhelming array of flaws common in Chinese novels. Initially, I hoped it would critique and lampoon Chinese stereotypes, but each subplot seemed to reinforce them: Stockholm Syndrome, a love-hate relationship with a wealthy CEO, the superstar system, harem dynamics, and more.

The main character (MC) deserved compassion, but instead, the supposed revenge against the original male lead (ori!ML) ended up targeting the female lead (ori!FL), who was innocent. She became the scapegoat for everything – ML's infidelity, a rapist's actions, and even FL's Stockholm Syndrome, which led to the murder of the original owner of MC's body due to a single complaint. The portrayal was disgusting, filled with misogynistic undertones and blatant objectification of women's thoughts, choices, and vulnerability.

I couldn't even find satisfaction in seeing the villainous male characters suffer, as every character, regardless of their despicable actions, belittled MC multiple times, forcing her to internalize their cruelty while narrating it to readers. The MC's inability to express anger, even after I stopped taking the story seriously, further frustrated me. She then vented her resentment by detailing the villains' misdeeds, but it left me questioning if I should feel angry.

Despite the author's intentions to make the female lead a villain, I found myself同情 her instead. It was unjust how MC treated her cruelly, even orchestrating a rape. The male leads were uniformly reprehensible, with their rapist, cheating, misogynistic, manipulative, violent, and selfish nature. This novel utterly disappointed me, and I apologize for the strong emotions and language used in this review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

"This is the finest transmigration tale I've encountered. Why? Because it showcases:

    1. A world beyond mere assignment realms.
    2. Absence of a typical, clichéd male protagonist.
    3. Unlike typical fast-paced transmigration stories, the female lead (FL) partners with different individuals each time, adding variety.
    4. The FL's strength grows through her own determination and efforts, making for a compelling narrative.

While some quick transmigration stories can feel repetitive, the organization-centric chapters bring an extra layer of excitement. I adore the FL ❤️"

I truly appreciated the earlier storyline where the main character maintained her integrity and didn't resort to typical tropes seen in transmigration stories, like being naive or overly reliant on the male lead. She didn't interfere in others' affairs unless there was a genuine issue, nor did she act overly virtuous by helping everyone regardless of their connection to her. However, in the recent arc, I feel like the MC has started to blur the lines between a well-balanced protagonist and one who crosses ethical boundaries.

In the arc where she becomes a mother-in-law, her inner thoughts seem to display a prejudiced attitude towards women, questioning their choices in fashion and personal life. She places blame on the deceased host for not being diligent, even if the husband is innocent. The way she seeks revenge in this arc feels distasteful, reducing women's worth solely to their reproductive capabilities and domestic roles. Additionally, the portrayal of the doctor in the story lacks professionalism.

Furthermore, it appears that the MC might be experiencing a sort of misplaced sense of heroism. In the Miaomiao arc, she went out of her way to assist those unrelated to her. And in the cultivation arc when she became half-demon and half-human, her actions seemed to follow a pattern of deciding what's best for others without considering the original host's intentions or her own mission. It seems she believes her martial arts should be shared universally for the benefit of half-demons, even though it wasn't part of her original plan or purpose.

Every time I visit this page in search of fresh story links, I encounter these ridiculous reviews, which I find nauseating. It's fine to have limited understanding, but please don't drag others down. Here are my thoughts:

    1. This is not a love story. The author clearly avoids romantic elements, and the idea that the protagonist, Ning Shu, is perceived as a potential love interest by those who see power in her is misguided. To them, she represents the opposing force.

    2. As a fan of non-romantic fast-paced reads, I appreciate "Original Returns" for its unique take. Unlike typical stories where the main couple faces various situations, the focus is on character growth and self-improvement. Ning Shu's approach is pragmatic, balancing strength with empathy, ensuring her characters can lead fulfilling lives according to their abilities.

    3. The term "cannon fodder" applies not only to the supporting characters but also to Ning Shu herself. The well-developed system within the story clearly outlines the motivations, and she undergoes significant challenges and hardships. It's not a tale of narcissistic power fantasies; instead, it's a journey of survival and alliances, which form gradually.

    4. Some reviews claim the author discriminates against women or is racist. However, accusing the author of racism based on this work alone is unfounded. While the admiration for the female lead's beauty might not suit everyone's taste, it's not the sole focus. The novel actively addresses women's rights and tackles serious issues like rape and domestic violence. The "boyfriend is gay" story is an exception, but it doesn't define the author's stance.

    5. Lastly, among all the fast-paced reads I've read, this is one of my favorites. The system and the diverse worlds she explores are creative and engaging. The initial world,尽管艰难, serves as a lesson in humility. The overall narrative is compelling, and the smaller subplots are imaginative.

In conclusion, while there may be some misinterpretations, this book offers a thoughtful and well-crafted experience in the fast-paced genre, with a strong emphasis on character development and social issues.

They claimed it was geared towards girls, but personally, I find it quite engaging, hehe. If you're as charming as me, feel free to give it a read; I won't push. The story progresses steadily, with well-developed characters, unlike those who suddenly become overly powerful. Sometimes, the main character comes across as a bit naive, which I actually enjoy, as it adds a touch of humor to their struggles. [Please don't judge my sense of humor.] And oh, regarding the rating, I wish I could rate it 3.009 stars, but alas...

Though the novel starts off poorly, it gradually improves as it progresses. It's widely acknowledged that the first arc isn't particularly strong. The plot really picks up around chapter 50. If you want to skip the less appealing parts of the early chapters, I suggest reading the first six and then jumping straight to chapter 50. Here's a brief summary of significant events in between, based on my memory:

    - When Ning Shu returns home on her first day, her family announces they'll disown her publicly and give her some money to buy an apartment. She starts worrying about her weakness compared to Ling Xue and decides to take martial arts classes.

    - One day, she spots Ling Xue and follows her, witnessing her absorb a man's life force. Scared, Ning Shu hurries home, though Ling Xue doesn't discover her. Upon arrival, she finds the school doctor in her apartment, bleeding and holding a gun. She treats his wounds, but he醒了后要回了枪。

    - Later, the school doctor gifts her a small gun. At Ling Xue's request, Ning Shu attends Leng Ao's birthday party, which leads to a tense confrontation where she ends up shooting Ling Xue. Ling Xue's energy barrier prevents her from moving, giving Ning Shu the chance to shoot her. Ling Xue escapes with her lover, who helps her regain her strength.

    - The four characters eventually cross paths. Ling Xue's ML, the school doctor, and Ning Shu are armed, with the doctor holding a ticking bomb. Ning Shu persuades everyone to disarm, but the doctor detonates it. She and the doctor escape, but Ling Xue sustains injuries.

    - Fearing Ling Xue, Ning Shu starts living at school (potentially earlier). Without her gun, she feels vulnerable and turns to the school doctor for help, receiving an address to a mysterious location. She discovers an underground shooting range and befriends its members to improve her defense skills. Initially, she struggles, but eventually manages to return to school, marking the approximate end of chapter 50.

The beginning of the story could have been more engaging if Ning Shu vocalized her criticisms of the original characters instead of just thinking them. Additionally, the afterstories of the alternate worlds don't follow immediately after each arc but come later. What I appreciate is that the novel doesn't focus solely on finding an ML, making it more about Ning Shu's反击 journey.
