Year Five: After a coup, she ascends the throne. The Empress offers him high positions, wealth, and beautiful women. He refuses all. She frowns slightly, “Indeed a gentleman.”
Year Ten: Waking up sore all over, she curses the man beside her, “Some gentleman you are!”

“Three things can make the empire great again: the sword, your humble servant, and the three teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.”
So he says to the Empress.
