A stepmother who was brutally mu*dered by a man who grew up abused by her
Turns out, it was me!
‘I don’t want to die like that. The sub-male lead’s dad, I will avoid him no matter what.’
He proposed to me because I was an adopted child like the sub-male lead.
I will never fall in love at first sight. So let’s not be swayed!
I’ve made up my mind…
“I think one of my roses will be enough for Lady.”
“Okay, I’ll marry you…”
Ah, what did I just say?
Because he’s such a handsome guy, I don’t know why.
*****
It’s a waste to give him to others. This man, I’m gonna have to keep him.
“I’ll be honest with you. I really like how Leon looks. So if Leon fulfills his duties as a husband, I will raise Noah well as a mother.”
“What do you think about a husband’s duty?”
“What do you mean? Love and care for his wife.”

In the story, there's a scene where Rebecca, who has just come out, seems to be pregnant with Duke Khalid's child. This unexpected twist caught me off guard, considering Rebecca is presumably younger than the protagonist, who is 21, and Duke Khalid, a widower in his thirties, is seeking an heir. It's a bit uncomfortable, as it skirts around the line of subtle pedophilia, similar to the dynamics in Violet Evergarden with Princess Charlotte and her fiancé. However, if we overlook that aspect, the rest of the plot is rather charming.
One of my favorite moments is when the main character (MC) asserts that she wouldn't mind dating someone from a humble background, but not someone unattractive. The male lead (ML) is a standout, his blushes and gentle nature make him perfect for MC. He even treasures the ring she gives him like a precious treasure, fearing rejection.
The way MC expresses her emotions clearly is incredibly satisfying. They communicate in a symbolic language, like moonflowers representing silent love and apologies, which adds a touch of whimsy.
While there are elements I don't particularly enjoy, the overall narrative is heartwarming, focusing on love and healing in various forms. The connection between MC, ML, and their respective families is palpable, especially as ML strives to mend his relationship with his son, despite their shared reluctance to embrace love.
MC acts as a bridge between them, facilitating understanding, but it's ultimately their individual decisions to cross that bridge and heal that matter. I can't wait to see their relationship deepen.
In summary, I adore the MC-ML bond and am eager to explore their growth together.
The ML is portrayed as a strong and reliable character, and the side character, Og, is adorable with FL. He's intelligent and fiercely protective of her. As for the translation, the Readhive group has done an outstanding job. Their translations are of high quality, and they update quickly. I'm eagerly anticipating more updates from them.
